I have these 4 childhood friends, we've known each other for like 16 years.
We all had a kid last year, 4 little boys that will now grow up together. Another bond between our families.

I have decided to get them a silver coin every year for their birthday. I live in Mexico so I bought them a 1oz Libertad from 2022.
I'll buy another this year and so forth.

Pondering if I should start gifting it to them once they are old enough to understand (5-6yo) and be excited about adding to their treasure every year? Or silently add every year and gift them a whole collection in a nice wooden box for their 18th birthday ?

Also pondering if buying something bigger/nicer for my kid (maybe 5oz coins instead ?)

Thank you, I'll check it and see how much it goes for there. I can get it delivered to a family member there but I suppose vat etc will kick in.
Might wait for when I visit to ask for a detax and avoid the shipping fees.
Also importing pure gold or silver is not taxed in MX
