Isn't quite right. It depends on the broker and the security. Most brokers will do a per-share charge after a certain volume, mostly to tax people trading penny stock. For example, my brokerage does $.03 for every share over 1000 plus the flat $20 commission. So my 1030 shares had $20.90 in commission. When I sell them I'll get charged that again. This same broker has different rates for futures and options.
