If you think creating liabilities for yourself at $0.70 is good then by all means continue to short. Part of the fun of meme stocks is not just the potential for huge payoff, but also making you choke to death on those liabilities. Destroying wallstreet and the banks is one of the desired outcomes so if we can catch you dead to rights in a massive naked short you can't unwind then all the better for me. Shorts have to burn political capital to do this, and the more discussion the left and the right can have about the owning class the better as well. We all want to see justice implemented and this moves things along nicely.

This must be infuriating for people looking to do real-life business/operations when the finance guys went and destroyed themselves and now all of us have to suffer because of THEM. They only prosecute the small guys or people who aren't in the tribe. It's largely a political tool to slap down people who start encroaching in on the grift.
Aside from the bogus "fines" they hand out, the nonsense gets away with is nothing short of theft and fraud. That kind of behavior can be controlled very easily if you revoke corporate charters, threaten jailtime, revoke someone's trading license etc. Any individual caught up in a crime that amounts to a fine should be in prison and removed from the capital markets in their entirety. It's so obviously a wealth-extraction scheme and none of it is meant to actually better the country in any way. Through inflation, taxes and low interest rates, the entirety of this country is compelled to invest in overleveraged risky assets and it is basically a feeding frenzy of "money managers" vacuuming up our retirements. They steal the good resources and productivity and give you an IOU they never plan to repay. It's so comically evil that we literally need to just nuke NYC. And when the Wallstreet rats slink into the sewer we should be dumping radioactive toxic waste in behind them and plugging the escapes with concrete and rebar.

The problem is once you negate the short position you effectively have to steal people's shares. And everyone will end up rebuying the shares anyway only to have the price go skyrocketing anyway once the longs are free to pile in now that the shorts have been vacated. So there will be a LOT of bad blood over this, and everyone is about as sick and fucking tired of the elite in this nation as it is. I would LOVE to see them spend the political capital to save their own asses. It will be almost as exciting as MOASS itself once people decide we need to deal with the crooks for real this time.
