While for a retail investor, stocks without dividends might just seem like a "greater fool" scenario, to people or entities with enough money to actually buy out a company, a stock that falls too far below its "fair" value is a great bargain. And the buyer isn't a "greater fool" either, because they are acquiring a company that will make them money, and they need permission from YOU, the partial owner, to do so such that have to buy your shares if they want control.
