I always thought a smart contract was something that sits between two parties. A simple example is
>Pepe has 9ETH
>Wojak has 1ETH
>Pepe says we will put our ETH into a smart contract and use it to invest in Pajeet's ICO
>"I'm a nice guy so we will just split our profits 50/50 in a month"
>They both put in their ETH
>Pajeet's ICO doubles in value thanks to constant shilling on /biz/
>smart contract executes
>They both get sent 5ETH
>They decide to take out their original investments
>Pepe now has 14ETH and feels good about helping Wojak
>Wojak now has 6ETH and will forever be grateful to Pepe
>Neither Pepe nor Wojak had to trust each other
>Smart contract was on blockchain so immutable (cannot be changed)
>Smart contract can be viewed and verified by both parties
Am I wrong?
