Is it really wortwhile to invest $500/monthly into huge national companies unlikely to fail even in the face of a global recession?
Looking at their last peak i'd guess that'd only net me a profit of about $200 for every $500 in a near-best case scenario post-taxes and it'd probably take a couple of years holding them?
Maybe I should be looking at stocks that payout dividends?
Not interested in daytrading obviously, i'm just wondering what expectations to have from long-term investments like that and if it's even worth it. Beating inflation? Small increases like that by potentially taking on big losses?
