A lot of former "smart kids" are this way.
Because they didn't have to struggle early in life on account of their high IQ, when it comes to doing hard or uncomfortable things later in life they often choose to simply avoid them, isolating themselves and creating muh quiet genius narratives

And since their IQ is such a reliable tool they often cognize their social relationships too! So they are spending all this mental energy on trying to compute the best way to navigate the social situation (figuring out what to say, what not to say, when to say things, self monitoring, monitoring the group, etc) and get burnt out really quickly
