Additionally, its effects in the reduction of hepatocyte ballooning and preventing the formation of esophageal varices were promising enough that GALT has moved onto Phase 3 clinical trials in NASH. In addition to NASH, GR-MD-02 has shown promising results in the treatment of melanoma and head and neck cancer, significant increasing Keytruda's response rate in a recent combination trial. GR-MD-02 is safe (producing little to no significant side effects) and relatively inexpensive to produce (being derived from apple pectin).
