hey /biz/
I fucked up and sold some LINK last year on coinbase and I fear I might have to report it to the IRS. I can pay whatever taxes but I'm trying to prepare so that I don't end up paying too much erroneously

My crypto history is as follows - occasionally bought crypto on coinbase, and transferred it off immediately to Binance or Kucoin. On those websites I traded often and I also transferred neo/eth/ltc between the exchanges often. I lost 90% of my money but put it into LINK and my account basically broke even once it was all said and done. I transferred most of it back to coinbase except for like $50 of eth I'd sent to kucoin which I'd swing traded into1.6 BSV, and $100 worth of harmony I've held a while which is worth like $65 last I checked, I moved that from binance to kucoin as well.

I made a few other trades on coinbase since then that they'll probably give me a 1099 for but I'm a little worried I might have to pay gains for that initial trade when I brought everything back to coinbase and sold. I'm looking on binance and for some reason all my old history seems to be gone

I used to think a small fish like me wouldn't matter, but then last year a week after I filed taxes, Robinhood informed me that they had a 1099 for me and I realized that the IRS would be aware of that. I only made about $200 gains on robinhood that year but 1) I don't want to get surprised with fines and interest and 2) I made a LOT more trades this year and I don't want to be incorrectly taxed on those trades due to not filing prior years - is that a thing?

Just posting in case anyone can give me a little guidance. Should I seek out a CPA? Is it expensive? I'm currently unemployed and spending as little as possible in anticipation of surprise tax shit in case the IRS thinks I owe them thousands
