Even in the expensive Northeast you can find a reasonable suburban home with minimal diversity for $250k, $180k if you're willing to take a shitpile good enough to get its permit.

Should I do it? I will probably harvest 10 to 15k in 5 to 10 years (today money). And the land is pretty cheap because it's 30~40 minutes away from my town center.
It's seem a solid investment, because land always goes up, and worst case scenario, I can grow potatoes there to survive the "end of the world as we know".

What are the cons? I feel that if I keep my money in the bank, it will just be eaten away by inflation...
