The "likely to drop out" part sounds like bullshit to the uninitiated, but I've known several nerds whose hands were forced because they blew the money they would have spent on tuition on their hobbies (mainly TCG's, but I imagine nowadays the big money sink would be gacha). I don't know any chads personally so I can't speak for their drop out rates, but with how much cheating goes on in American universities there's really never a proper reason to drop out anymore.
