Yes, Twitter can legally and Constitutionally do what it did. That's well within its right as a private company. That's the point I was making.

You lack reading comprehension and/or context, so your mind jumped straight to Section 230: "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider" (47 U.S.C. § 230). I actually agree that by censoring content, Twitter is tending to lean on the side of 'content provider'/'publisher' rather than simply an 'interactive computer service'.

I am worried about classifying Twitter as a publisher, though, because that would open up the door for a much more regulated internet. For example, it would open up the door to go after 4chan for some of the shit posted here. It could completely ruin the freedom of posting anonymously and freely online.

If they could JUST narrow it down to Twitter being a publisher/content provider, and bounce JUST TWITTER from section 230, then I'd be all for that. But that's impossible.
