Rocketpool is the only decentralized eth2 pool solution. Anyone with 16+ ETH can run a node and take 16ETH from others, earning a cut on their earnings.
- literally the only way to withdraw eth2 before the full switch to PoS (with smart contracts). Withdrawals are going to be tokenized as rETH.
- once smart contracts arrive, it's going to become fully decentralized. As a temporary solution, the eth2 withdrawal address is going to be controlled by a 75% threshold signature controlled by widely known crypto people.
- RPL is needed to create new nodes, 1-3RPL per ETH, depending on the demand for staking.
