lets say there's something with a huge market cap, doesn't matter what it is (business, commodity, etc.). if, with the snap of my fingers, I could perfectly replicate that asset in its entirety, would i have created value? while there would be dilution from the increased supply/competition, i would argue that at the very least, i've absorbed value, and contributed value in many cases.

so now lets apply this to bitcoin. there's a limit of 21 million bitcoin, but bitcoin itself is open source software, and anyone with a little knowledge of tech can create a parallel bitcoin. the code would be the same, the coin limit would be the same, the only difference would be the size of the ledger, and the number of computers mining. i don't think anyone claims the ledger size is the reason btc has value, so lets move onto the number of computers mining. why would anyone bother mining btc1, hoping to get 1 coin, when they could easily mine btc2 coins, which after all have the same 21 million limit?
