It's unnerving to see the finders never get rewarded anything. Culture ministers should have a budget ready for this kind of stuff, instead of spending 10s of millions for ugly jewish modern art (which is most likely nothing but cash laundering).
Because of how stingy the government is, nobody is incentivized to hand them over their findings, and we are losing precious historical data because of this.
If i were the italian minister of culture, i'd offer the finders half the value of the findings they return to museums in cash + have their name in the local newspaper saying how everybody is winning from this, both the archeologues and the public, to incentivize more ppl to hand their findings (and tell the location where it was buried).

Clearly keep it all to myself and try to do the cleaning on my own. It's just silver coins, the roman empire lasted centuries touching 3 continents, so it's not like roman coins are unique artifacts who will change the history books.
Only if i found some really unique stuff i'd hand it to the authorities, like a big bronze cauldron with an epic battle depicted on it for example, as it could help us to find something we ignored, or better understand some event who took place back then.

Frens nickels made before 2014 are currently worth ~$0.0446 in scrap. If the prices of copper and nickel go up 12%, nickels will be worth their face value in scrap. Protect yourself from the coming inflation and hoard nickels.
