But here goes my nigger-brain understanding of how this goes. AAVE/YFI/dydx/etc. are smart contracts where you deposit your stable coins into. You give the contract USDC and the contract gives you its version of a token with value, right back into your wallet. This is the non-custodial portion of the protocol, the one that's supposed to make you feel better about giving some computer program five to six figures of money. depositing the tokens are the same as any other ethereal transaction, though the gas fees are sometimes a bit higher on these platforms. After that, sit back, jerk off to your 2d waifs all day, and watch your money grow based on the fact that degenerate gambling fucks are borrowing that money to spend it at the uniswap casino.
