I've done a LOT of reading about past collapses lately and here's what I've surmised:
1. Having PM for day to day barter is useless if not dangerous as it illuminates you as a target for thieves
2. Having PM is useful as a way to bribe your way out of the country, restart your wealth after a new currency starts, or to use for large value purchases like property
3. PM trading or even possession is usually restricted or outlawed to protect the govt currency
4. Usually the best use of PM is to cash it in for whatever paper currency has become dominant in the fall of the local currency

Still trying to work out how I want to shape my stack around these findings
