Based regardless of whether you're buying ones made during apartheid or are buying brand new ones to suck the Gold away from the current government.

>My grandfather in law texted me last night mentioning only military personnel in the States can buy Gold.
My Krugerrand combined with the fact I've never been in the miltary says otherwise.

I think it's possible to remove those black spots (I don't remember how), but if the coin has them, it isn't BU.

>at least get a krugerrand or something kek.
Bought one last month.
>maybe that's the joke that I'm missing.
I've bought a couple Liberian coins in the past because I find having hard money from a failed state to be worth buying for the meme. The premiums I've paid on them are the same as what I've paid on generic rounds. I've bought a good deal of Venezuelan junk Silver for the same reason.

Krugerrand or Sovereign, they're the two most recognized Gold Coins on the planet, very durable, easy to store and are the easiest to liquidate. If you want something more substantial than the Sovereign, get a Double Sovereign or a 5 pounds coin.

It usually isn't worth doing in most cases, but it is possible. The only real exceptions are Gold Krugerrands and Mexican Libertads which are legal tender for the amount of Gold or Silver they contain and can be deposited in banks in their countries of issue in exchange for their value in their Country's currency.

I wish my Krug didn't have this residue on the back, I don't think I can get it off without damaging the coin.

I actually called in ahead and he set it aside for me.
It has some a bit of unsughtly residue on the reverse, but Gold is Gold.
