boomers or real baby boomers? i think both groups have horrible track records investing in stocks, like much lower than index returns. some studies show maybe 3% long term returns, which after inflation is nearly 0% by stock picking their favourites :) plenty of traders in twitter and media etc. simply bullshit their returns and nobody is asking them something like bank's annual report of their portfolio or require a publicly held official, morningstar type, fund records. so money comes by managing fees or commercials or selling trading signals which are close to index returns if not worse long term. you can also shut down bad funds and let good ones run. if you truly good no need of any of that stuff just stay in the shade and trade like the best hedge funds do
