Except that's not because of capitalism, it's because of the government interfering in capitalism. The lines are because of anti-price gouging laws preventing the price from being raised high enough to meet demand, causing hoarding and lines, rather than people only buying as much as they needed as they would if their increased valuation of the product matched the increased price. If you value something ten times as much but the government prevents businesses from selling it at ten times the price, of course you'll take ten times as much off the shelf, and people will be rushing to the stores to get their fill before the store runs out. It has been proven that price controls and anti-gouging laws are the worst thing you can do in a disaster for the exact reason we are seeing play out before our eyes, and in fact the lines in communist countries were caused by fundamentally the same thing: the lack of a pricing mechanism that allowed prices to match true supply and demand.
