assuming you're aware with the way transactions are accepted through node 'gossip', said gossip has an attached cost to participate in the trade. each node that participates must prove to own some stake in the system.
thus sybil attack would require a large financial sum to even attempt. while this doesnt make it impossible but does make it unlikely to ever be done. keep in mind I also dont fully understand the protocol but thats what I made of it.

as far as other parts of the technology goes, as some anons have noted and gloated about for a while with the 'double spends' avax does indeed have no guarantee against conflicting transactions, so one may attempt to 'double spend'. but this should only affect the sender of the money and doesnt ruin the entire network integrity in any way. because all transactions are done through node gossip it'd eventually becomes clear this one sender made the same tx twice. this comes back to bite the person attempting the double send as now only one of the two spends gets okayed, but not both, and not the same one, which causes both sends never getting 100% confirmed and made.
