The most likely scenario to be played out is:

higher ups crash all assets by liquidating at or near a top like we are seeing now. Prices then crash, ruining retail, then higher ups/institutionals buy in for pennies on the dollar.

Something else will either be more fiat, like electronic FIAT, or PM/asset backed currency of some sort.

Either is good for people holding PM's
