No one has ever had a bad thing to say about Ripken Jr., and no one ever will.
I mean you're a Yankees fan, so there isn't really much more to say that you'll be able to understand

The difference between the Cardinals and the Yankees is soul vs. soulless.
New York hasn't really come alive for baseball in a century, even when you're winning everyone is too cool, too self-important to care. And when you're losing, any losing New York sports team, that's when the 'fans' show their true colors.

None of the fancy expensive baseball teams New York put together in the last couple decades could give the feeling of a Baseball summer in St Louis (or any other true baseball town, for that matter). Don't care how much you spend, don't care what you claim about a little cork in the batty.
If you weren't eating Big Macs, downing Budweiser (bud heavy NOT light fuck off), and pumping tech stock valuations to bitcoin numbers in St Louis in those late 90's summers you weren't alive.

Just watch a couple minutes of that documentary if you want to see a little glimpse what true baseball is like. Never seen more smiling people in an hour. We rode that high all the way through the Greatest Show on Turf, the Martz-Warner years.
