If your dad is a Boomer and has health issues then he can easily apply for social security to receive SSI, disability, and or retirement. If I had to guess your dad doesn't want to work anymore which isn't necessarily a bad thing. With that said if you helped them pay off their mortgage and your parents were receiving social security then you wouldn't have to financially worry about them anymore and you can focus more on your life now.

Now with that said I'm willing to help anyone else in this thread if they want to.
