I watched this series after seeing all the memes from it, and I'm not into anime at all.
>All main characters overly exaggerated
>Zero subtelty
>Wanted to beat Shinji to death every episode
>Only two interesting characters (Rei and Shinji's father) didn't get much screentime to know them better
>No evolution of relationships between the pilots, (almost) every character stays the same until the end
>Too much screentime wasted on fights that don't matter anyway
>Only one good episode (on the beginnings of nerv)
Very meh show.
