Dark corner you say? Yeah, this site has its flaws, but it's one of the last bastions of the old internet left and compared to hellholes like reddit, it's pretty OK.
Also, I don't see anything self destructive in putting a few percent of my net-worth into physical metals. At best, my children or grand children will inherit a nice stack to get them started (as did I), even though they don't need it since everything is fine anyways and at worst, it might help me get back on my feet, should fecal matter hit the rotational device.
Also, it's a fun hobby.

Yeah, living in tiny, densely populated Europe has its perks. (though that pic was like 20 minutes by car)

Finally got some help panning!
(Didn't find much though. Tried a transect through the gravel bar, but I was just focusing behind the boulders. Plus, you're not that fast when you've got someone else digging in your hole who's got different ideas from you.)
