Brainlets. There are algos still unprofitable to make asics for, therefore gpus. New gpu algos pop up all the time so once asics overtake a coin gpu miners move to new coins.
The day asics take over the entire market is the day only 30 or so alts are left, which i dont see happening any time soon.

ASICS are a niche. To create a mining ASIC you need someone that truly understands the hashing algorithms and they have to be able to translate into transistors on a chip. Not many people out there that can do this, and would be willing to go work for a company like Nvidia

PoS is a so hyped that I'm pretty sure it will shit the bed.
People are overfocused on the "wasteful" and "ASIC" memes not realizing that Proof of Stake has no mechanisms to incentive liquidity and the price will be 100% speculative unlike PoW coins which are at least partially pegged to the energy generated to create them.

I don't even speak how PoS have a shitton of potential security issues between the extreme difficulty to generate a truly random algorithm.

But the worst part is how it will create UNMOVABLE cartels, right now Bitmain is dominating Bitcoin but they can actually lose to a third party if it comes with better ASICs, with PoS they can't.
