but if you invest in safe, blue chip companies that have consistent profits, good cashflow and are a majority of their market, its difficult to lose money over the long haul. especially if they produce a dividend and increase their dividend over the rate of inflation. however that method (the one I use) isn't going to get you rich in a few years, but can in a few decades (all dependent on how much you invest and the market's rate of return)

I got some brainlet questions.

So I just opened an account on IB, shifting from Degiro (sort of regretting it). IB is way too complicated for my level of experience. Currently I sent some EUR to my cash account, which I also want to use to buy US stocks which are, obviously, quoted in USD. On Degiro, the system would automatically convert your money to USD and buy the stock. When I try to do that on IB tho, it calculates the impact the purchase would have on my liquidity but then I get an error message saying SETTLED CASH NOT AVAILABLE 0.00.
The fuck is settled cash?
Do I have to manually buy foreign currency every time I want to buy a stock quoted in markets not in EUR?

Also every data I have about stocks seem to be delayed, but it doesn't say by how many minutes. Do I have to pay Stock Analysis something something monthly for a market to get the info in real time?
