MACD is an even more complicated form since it's exponential, assigning greater weight to newer price moves. What this means for crypto is that you FAIL because it's so volatile.
Furthermore MA is a trend-following system. You can't use trend-following systems to 'predict' the next leg of a price move, only to confirm the existence of a trend and look for divergence, which when combined with other indicators, can warn of an impending reversal.

Bitfinex margin data now shows ~10.7k btc net short while we seem to be flattening out at what's been prior support for the last year or so. While my personal inclination is that this is not THE bottom, in the shorter term I believe there's going to be a lot of short-term pain to shake out the weaker bears before we have any chance of taking a stab to new lows.

Given that bitmex futures are at a discount I'd say the easy trade is to long with a relatively tight stop loss a couple hundred bucks below, say 6149 or so, at no more than 5-10x leverage and hold for a push to 7k or beyond. Don't get greedy though and be sure to take profits north of 7k. The 50 day moving average will be first major resistance
