yes
paper trade them

also
favor debit spreads over just naked long positions. naked long positions are for BIG moves. the market normally doesnt make big moves on a near term basis. its always back and forth

I'd think twice before starting with things like options or index futures, which all move in relation to underlying equities. If you can't understand/trade those, you'll just end up as (my) chum.

I work as a programmer so I figure my skillset is used the same pretty much everywhere. the trick is you sell a call at a strike right next to the one you bought, so it doesn't count as a day trade (because it's a different option)

e.g you bought the 275 call, it goes up, you want to get out because you think it'll go back down, sell the 272.5 call instead, now you own a tight credit spread that you can dump Monday

but the div is 7.64% and you can write ATM or slightly OTM calls against it if you so desire in between ex-days. just be careful if the call goes ITM near or on ex-day, as you will definitely get exercised by some cunt trying to steal your divs

if you dont actually give a shit about divs, i could maybe suggest XOP as i think that energy will ultimately stay macro bull, and i believe that there will be a mad rush of oil/gas exploration companies that will try to fill demand for new wells. theres a good entry on it rn, and im likely gonna pick more up

if its really crashing again then its fucking official: crypto leads the stock markets on major down moves (provided monday happens like i think it will (PROTIP: it will)). i believe a lot of this has to do w the fact that the dollar tends to start spiking prior to US market down moves (wew glad i went long TLT on the bell).

looks like BTC/USD has a support at 5750, and failing that (it will), nothing stopping it from going down to 5k. id buy it at 5050 if i were in it for a swing but i honestly expect it to go to 1k or possibly even lower before its next golden bull.

crypto is experiencing what we refer to in the cult of the golden bull as the legendary "RED DRAGON". it will crash lower than anyone believes is possible. the reason is because it is a non-real asset/commodity that depends on people wanting it to continue its existence. now that no one wants it, we will start to see the beginning of serious liquidity issues in the minor exchanges. i predicted this would happen several months ago ITT, as a result of banks consolidating their power over the asset while its still unregulated. once theyve destroyed/bought out all their competition in the exchange market, it will be a better buy. until then.... not looking good.

but lets see if it bounces off 5750 or 5k on the way down.

nah feb was a yield spike and large specs wiping out retail who was short VIX for the lulz. feb happened because it became clear that powell was gonna be the chair and that there would be tightening. thats it. US markets arent in a precarious spot for a while. still some baseline left to run imo. i DO think the yield curve will invert but thats not gonna stop us from ultimately going up for now. it will slow us down a bit tho.

>oil is about to crash hard,
in the near term, yes
but i have an eerie feeling that this oil bull this year was nothing more than a MASSIVE wave1 of a FUCKHUGE elliot wave. its only just begun. there arent enough oil wells to keep up w demand (nor are renewables in a position to take its place), hence why saudis let us take the wheel w shale oil for now. the assault on golan has failed utterly and theyre abandoning the project for now. theres gonna be some extremely big opportunities for sea drilling for some very small companies (as most of the drilling companies went bankrupt), but it fucking beats me as to which ones its gonna be desu. some geologist goy came buy and said something about guyana, so keep that in mind imo

i honestly HATE trading off of candle patterns. theres always someone w more money than you fingerpainting what you wanna see.
candle patterns, imo, are just adding another layer (one thats pretty subjective) on top of the thing you ACTUALLY need to establish. and thats: where do people want to buy "x" and where do they want to sell "x".

thats why i like coming up w my own indicators to determine these things. if no one (or very few) knows how to paint my indicators, then i can focus on determining the supply/demand on things and not get faked out. its also why i like trading off of correlations as it means they have to spoof BOTH of the underlyings in order to fool me, which is MUCH harder.

but most of the time, the supply will be static on a stock, so its determining demand. so you gotta figure out where people want it, and where people dont want it, and if something related to it changes, you need to try and adjust your estimations. the more you zoom out, the better/harder it is to fake.

heres a pattern. i saw people accumulating TLT for a while on every dip. i confirmed this on the COT for ZB. it also rang true on my volume oscillators. and the pattern is a very large wedge (means more people are accumulating/holding more as time goes on). but it wasnt the pattern that got me into the trade.

but $450M dollars in one trade is pretty big demand. i now KNOW shits rough next week

not a forex memester, but i still find the open, close, highs and lows to be important when taken as a whole. but people get hung up on shapes and shit. then they tell themselves its "x" shape and that means "y".

its about determining where people want it, and where they dont anymore. currencies are MUCH more complicated in this respect as they hinge on all sorts of intl bullshit as well as basic supply/demand

so do commodities i guess, but i like those better as the supply/demand makes more sense to me. w stocks, theres also sentiment and some other intangible things, as well as tons of emotional retail that muddies things up. i hate it.

OBV is really simple and you should be able to just use the stock on on tradingview. its the first indicator ever

if volume is up in that period, it adds that volume to the line. if volume is down on the period, it subtracts it. thats it

yeah the point of OBV is to look for divergences against the price action. shows people sneaking out the back door

my problem w it is that its impossible to scale, so i cant add it in w other indicators, and by itself i find it to be not very useful
my favorite combo w OBV is the CMF, but its got its own problems w the fact that gapsin price can get it out of sync. thats why i made the shekel flow, which allows me to take an average over however many periods of candles and apply the CMF to THAT

i was also trying to try and make a combination of the OBV and accumulation/distribution at one point, but kinda gave up

what would be REALLY helpful imo is if there were some way to get the total volume during globex hours and make an OBV off of that. then you could do basically what you do w the double ichi cloud and compare/contrast the regular hours and afterhours OBVs and likely extrapolate some very interesting data on where the big money is moving AH

right but if you did the same thing w daily OBV as you do w the globex one i think it could be useful if you compared the two. a close up would add to the line, a close down would subtract it. open to close would be the reg OBV, and close to open would be the globex period. if we see one running away from the other too mucch, we can likely anticipate something of a reversion to the mean. the problem would be scaling them both imo

you shouldve bought puts days ago, it probably wont fall much more (not to mention it hasnt had a bulltrap yet and is overdue), and if anons right and it starts gapped down, itll prolly get bought up some. very little left to short imo. TSLA is literally fucked, but still, ive been buying puts on them for a month and selling them on high vega days, apparently to people like you. its a desperate play, and you shoulldnt be buying puts on hi IV days anyways

you want a good short?
short CGC. shit hasnt even started there. of course it helps that literally everything is gonna pullback on monday, but in that circumstance, youd be better off buying puts on something thats still up, not shit thats already in the gutter like TSLA, nor things that are on a massive bullrun but are already pulling back like AAPL

you are literally FOMOing into shorts

2. Find a broker and make a brokerage account
3. Fund your account
4. Research individual stocks
5. Buy them
6. Sell the stocks once you're satisfied with how much they've appreciated in price
7. Repeat steps 4-7

Most brokers will charge you fees when you buy or sell stocks (these are called commissions), but Robinhood is one that doesn't. Robinhood doesn't provide as many tools for you to research indivdual stocks with, but you can do all the research you need with free websites if you know where to look.

It didn't happen in the lifetime of people who lived 1900-2000. Why not assume it'll happen in some distant future and play by the rules of what's likelier to come: that which we've seen the past few centuries. It's not like we're going to be in any different of position than 99.9% of everyone else if we invest and the financial system does permanently fail in our lifetime. Our life won't be any more ruined than everyone else's. But we could potentially ruin our life by focusing on hoarding gold/silver and the financial system doesn't fail in our lifetime.

Any thoughts on finding several ETFs that cover various levels of risk (blue chips, small business, biostocks, emerging/BRICS markets)
and just pumping slowly for 5-10+ years?

chemical synthesis was all done in midland
drums of the chems were then sent to other factories to repackage into missles, bombs, sprayers, ectera

the specific bomb that burned down vietnam village xyz may not have been made here, but the chemical itself was

we make shitloads of different chemicals, its how Dow just bought out DuPont

you would be surprised at how many Dow products are in your house from here tbqh

The world is so much smaller than people realize.
The world has felt like it revolves around Silicon Valley for quite some time for me, but investing has made me realize how incredibly powerful and giant some of these industrials companies really are.
Is all the chemical manufacturing just done at that single factory in Midland?

Do on etfdb and search what you want, you can sort etfs by different metrics. My picks would be:
http://etfdb.com/etf/IEUS
http://etfdb.com/etf/VONG
http://etfdb.com/etf/SPYG
http://etfdb.com/etf/XMLV
http://etfdb.com/etf/VIOG
http://etfdb.com/etf/GXC
Diversified etfs with proven underlying index performance on the long term and with somewhat low volatility.

if by single you mean dozens (many factories at each site) in the city, yea, but a lot of business higherups from all over the world work here too, not to mention primary R&D for the company located here

theres also plants in the thumb, near detroit, and in other states probably too
(and huge ones in japan, and europe, worldwide in general)

they have patents for a bunch of mers(plastics), plants (Monsanto is a subsidiary of Dow, lol) and chemical solutions though, which may reduce their competition by a bit
Like if you make chemical C 37838 H 234 O 454654 then you are stealing intellectual property from dow, and you will be sued and forced to hand it over to them

but the factories our here can probably make things faster and cheaper than most places anyways (most plastic pellets, that are melted down and fit into molds used in products made by hundreds, if not thousands of companies, are made here)

most heavy industry things are like that though, most cars are built in one factory (per country/continent anyways), like every ford mustang ever made in the US came out of one specific factory, every single F-150 came out of a different one in another city or state, ectera

another example is how theres only a couple dozen factories that can manufacture an aeroplane worldwide

the world really is one big village nowadays, most people just dont realize how much they depend on it
