Not necessarily. I've had times where calls didn't get exercused even though they were in the money. Exercising a call is buying the stock. If buying the stock doesn't look attractive to the person that's long (especially if its only slighty in the money), they can put in a request to not exercise the option.

I mean on one hand I'm happy my portfolio is flat. It's perfectly weighted to be invariant to large moves, rebalanced for peak efficiency. The tinge of short volatility is icing on the cake as both a short term error corrector and a long term value accumulator. Were it a spy -2% day the same thing should occur.

But I just can't help not seeing gainz on a big gainz day. The gambler inside is not happy. I did deposit an extra $100 laying around tho so that's cool I guess.

I was reading a bit about it in the previous thread.
If I buy $2,500 of a stock and sell at $3,000 will I have to pay the equivalent capital gains tax of 22% or whatever bracket I fall in to?
If all I made in a year off stocks via buying here and selling there netted me $500, how likely is it I could get away with just not paying the $135-ish dollars?

Speaking of pic related
Bank of Japan Cushion
>“Ironically, the Japanese central bank owning so much of the largest ETFs in Japan means that during a global panic that revokes existing dogma, the largest stocks in those indexes might be relatively protected versus the U.S., Europe and other parts of Asia that do not have any similar stabilizing force inside their ETFs and passively managed funds.”
Undervalued Japan Small-Caps
>“It is not hard in Japan to find simple extreme undervaluation -- low earnings multiple, or low free cash flow multiple. In many cases, the company might have significant cash or stock holdings that make up a lot of the stock price.”
>“There is a lot of value in the small-cap space within technology and technology components. I’m a big believer in the continued growth of remote and virtual technologies. The global retracement in semiconductor, display, and related industries has hurt the shares of related smaller Japanese companies tremendously. I expect companies like Tazmo and Nippon Pillar Packing, another holding of mine, to rebound with a high beta to the sector as the inventory of tech components is finished off and growth resumes.”
Cash Hoarding in Japan
>“The government would surely like to see these companies mobilize their zombie cash and other caches of trapped capital. About half of all Japanese companies under $1 billion in market cap trade at less than tangible book value, and the median enterprise value to sales ratio for these companies is less than 50%. There is tremendous opportunity here for re-rating if companies would take governance more seriously.”
>“Far too many companies are sitting on massive piles of cash and shareholdings. And these holdings are higher, relative to market cap, than any other market on Earth.”

I'm a little bit late to the thread, but what's /smg/s opinion on Xiaomi?

Their phone sales could potentially grow significantly in the western markets now that the next gen of Huawei phones have been all but confirmed to be banned from the play store (therefore utterly useless to normie customers). Xiamoi should provide the same ching-chongy user experience for Android users who crave a trendy looking smartphone but don't want to spend money on a proper flagship.

Try to more clearly define your strategy. What kinda trader do you want to be? Day? Swing? Buffet long hodler?

For just starting out i recommend 80% in index funds and 20% for pissing around with higher risk individual stocks. For the gambling 20%, keep about half of that in cash at all times to jump on opportunities or cost average on dips. Note that beating the index is very hard to do consistently year after year after year. If you'd like more risk exposure, consider doing your index fund portion as a 2x leveraged etf of the S&P.

My plan was to look into companies that I'm confident won't crash and not highly priced compared to that past year. I'll buy when I feel is the right time. A dip for example. When the stock goes up and I'm happy with the gains I'll sell and move my funds to a different stock. The plan was to do this with many stocks at the same time. If I had a stock that didn't go up I would either hold or buy more. In terms of how often I would trade. Probably won't happen every day. Maybe once a week. I don't mind the effort in doing so. When I said baby it I didn't mean it was a nuisance. Was just the best way I could explain my plan.

However I'll probably take the other anons advice and adc a index fund.

It's a lot bigger than that silly. Daily reminder that the antecedent to all luciferio-masonic CONTROL structures are Atlantean in origin, surviving through greco-roman mystery schools. The key to this is Pan N.O.X., they sustain the endless night of vacuous light, Ain Soph Aur, Lucifuge, Apollyon. The ultimate form of Tikkun Olam is the manifestation of the holy grail, Jerusalem will be nuked and turned to a cup of green glass, this is the "blood of lucifer", the Third Temple. They are opposed by oriental schools descended from black Lemuria, you can think of these as the outer-earth signifiers of Agartha and Shambhala, respectively.
