Although the example wasn't meant to be literal. A chainlink adapter can be coded in an afternoon that takes data from the concert ticket seller's Web api, adapts and converts it to something a smart contract can understand and read, and puts/pushes it onto that blockchain (mainly etherium for now but anything with SC capabilities).

The process can be reversed, such that if you bought the ticket through a smart contract (decentralized exchange), paying in crypto, card, or bank...chainlink takes that information off the blockchain and translates it back to something the ticket seller's web api can understand and/or pays the seller and deducts that ticket.

Or, more likely, CL sends the crypto/card/bank payment to whoever resold their ticket to you in a dex useage case. Without the need for an escrow service or to trust either side; there's no way to counterfeit or scam by adopting blockchain tech for this (and many other) uses.
