have been depositing to coinbase since 2016, about $30k since then has gone in and about $110k has gone out, free rolling now. Bank has lately been calling, emailing, mailing me notices about a KYC type request. I had to provide source of funds and where the cash went when i withdrew to my bank then took out to put elsewhere....anyone had this happen to them? its not even that much $.

Yea I'm under investigation by the tax authorities in my country. I had to send everything to them: all my transactions, credit card history, bank accounts, brokerage accounts, trade history, crypto, income etc. I have spent 20+ hours on this shit (inlcuding many long phone conversation). I don't really have anything to hide but it still sucks balls. I have paid all my taxes afaik but I'm afraid that reported something the wrong way or forgot about something...

It isn't illegal to have to withdraw, deposit, or transact over 10k. It's just that the business will be required by the IRS to file a report about the transaction to ensure that money has been properly taxed. The business may or may not do this, and the IRS won't actually do anything if the money is clean. They only want the report because it's suspicious, not because it's illegal.


Remember, the IRS doesn't even care that you have illegal income. They care that you haven't given them their cut of it.
