If you don't mind working hard and in shit environments then go into something like elevator mechanic. It starts at $80/hr on average after the apprenticeship, and the unions have every elevator company against the wall. You get sworn in and you effectively have a guaranteed job for life.

The job will teach you a lot about electronic and mechanical machines and how to work on them. You will also spend the first four years lifting tons of heavy metal objects. It is also extremely dangerous.
