Dispelling this again, that rally had nothing to do with a rate cut. Powell's unscheduled remarks came out earlier in the day. There was a slight bounce and then market sold it off and headed back down to the lows. Then Trump administration hinted that additional tax cuts were coming, which usually would see a huge rally, but market barely reacted. The rally at the end of the day was largely attributed to pension funds repositioning because this was the last trading day of the month.
