Yeah I know, I was buying silver back then too, but I was young and couldn't afford much. Also there was a lot less choices in bullion at that time and Koalas were demanding higher premiums than Kooks ironically up until that 2008 design came out and people saw how it appreciated, even though it's still just an ounce of silver.

I sort of agree. Crypto changed the game for sure, but it's still easier for the Gov to manipulate software, and the risk is much higher because you already know Silicon Valley is run by Jews. We for sure will see a volatility fight between Gold and BTC, which may split the volume people buying either one, younger people will go BTC for it's convenience, older fashioned people will go gold. Of cource people will run to these out of necessity to escape inflation. But I do think gold will win out, like it always does. You can't argue with an element that has the history it does. I made a plan a while ago to buy gold and silver, and later sell some to get BTC when I can get it for a much cheaper price because I think BTC will tank with the market far more than gold will. Then ride BTC back up when it has another hayday and transfer back to gold. The real power play would be to get BTC with Silver, which may be a possibility in the future.

Thing is, goods would massively deflate in value while gold and silver would massively inflate.

Silver's current market structure doesn't look like 2008. From 2003 to 2008, Silver had a 5 year bull run that saw it increase about 360%. Then it dumped about 60% during 2009 before it resumed its bull trend.

Contrast that to 2020 where the past decade was bearish for silver. It's only now starting to show signs of life, but a proper bull trend hasn't started yet. With that said, I think 2020 has a lot of similarities to 2003. If there is to be another bull run for silver, this is the prelude to it. Price is relatively flat, but the moving averages are slowly lining up into a bullish structure.

The reason FDR confiscated gold is because the American people had lost faith in paper money issued by the government and the people were resorting to gold instead. By forcing people to turn over their gold for paper money the feds essentially forced the public to restore its faith in government issued bills. It also left the government with a mountain of gold, so its a win win from the govt's perspective.

If people start to abandon fiat currency due to an economic collapse the government will likely confiscate PM's again in order to force a return to fiat and also back the governments buying power with something that has real value, like gold and silver, instead of the worthless paper that they print.

because the 2008 crash might *not* be the exact identical twin of the upcoming 2020-2021 crash. back then yes gold and silver went down a lot, but you can't really say for sure that the same will happen next since things are different now. for one thing, a lot of anons have made millions if not billions off of shitcoins and various online businesses since then. that kind of wealth wasn't around in the 2008-2009 period. these anons might buy all the way from now until mid-collapse, meaning silver will not return to $5-$9 range. there's at least one silverchad in these PM threads that has a massive silver hoard and doesn't look like he's stopping. also keep in mind governments and institutions probably learned from 2008 and are now ready to buy more aggressively if silver/gold went down to below $15/$1500.

But the whole "collectible" thing is debatable. The only collectible coin I own is the Ukrainian Archangel (pic related) and technically the Mexican boobie coin. I'd recommend you stay away from those coins and focus on bars, rounds, and coins that are as close to spot price as possible. Also, beware of silver coins that have color or whatever, they'll come at a higher price but the value is actually the same as non-colored silver coin. If you need an example look at the Krugerrand as their is a plain silver one and a colored version that is much higher. But the resell value is the same as far as I know.

Yeah a few things.
1. Don't fall for the copper bullion meme, because they rape you on the premium. If you want copper for whatever reason, just get a 5lb bag of wheat pennies.
2. Take your time on investing, if all you can get is 5 ozs of silver a paycheck so be it. Not to sound like a boomer but a penny saved is a penny earned, indeed.
3. Set goals for your investing. For example, by the end of the year I want to reach 300 ozs of silver, 2 ozs of gold, 1 oz platinum, or whatever it might be.

To be fair, PMs are incredibly stable. Don't let the Palladium price jump deter you, only myself and a few people called it and got it right. Also, keep in mind that PMs usually drop in the winter season, so don't get shook. As for a dump, if there is another recession, I think that there will be a steep decline in price for 2-3 months, followed by a huge spike. That decline will be weak investors getting shook out. Also, I don't think it will happen for a few more years. Also, real quick, don't expect to get rich off this, it's more of a stable asset type thing. It's fun though not gonna lie. I love coming back from work and holding gold and silver in my hands.

Well, Peace and Silver dollars carry way higher premiums than half dollars or quarters as it tends to get into the collector's zone, not stacker's. So quality of those coins will affect those silver dollars more than other 90% silver coins. That being said, silver melt value is always going to be intact.
