literally dont trade options unless you understand exactly what you are trading
if you WRITE a put you are basically selling a contract to sell 100 shares of a stock, and that contract is worth some dosh. you are betting the market will stay flat or go up if you write the put. if you buy the put you are betting it will go down.

for example, billy writes a put for fagcorp that expires in a month for $80.this contract says billy has to buy 100 shares of fagcorp for 80 bucks. fagcorp is currently trading for $90 a share, so billy collects a small premium when he sells this contact to some dumbass called roberta. right now this contract is intrinsically worthless because who would exercise this contract? nobody.
but lets say the market craters because some chink in an elevator coughed on you. now fagcorp is trading for $50. woops. sorry billy. youre still on the hook to buy those 100 shares, and whoever holds that contract can sell it for a LOT more than billy did. so it gets passed around like a grape flavored blunt in the hood until its strike date. then billy gets fucked in the ass and roberta makes out like a bandit. understand? sorry if unclear ive had too much too drink

Let me clarify: if you write a put option. In other words, if you are the initial seller of the contract, you are obligated to supply 100 shares of the underlying security of the put's strike price is met by expiration. I cannot put it more simply.

You buying a put and having it expire worthless, or otherwise drop to 0.01, is not what I'm describing.

Two positives things happening:
People and companies will realize working from home is actually feasible for many workers and the industry may shift away from large expensive office spaces and long commutes in favor of teleconferencing.
Greater push for automation. Since people are going to lose their jobs now, time to fire up the machines. Expect a boom of new and old companies moving into automation.

Why would a corporation bay hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to rent a building for their workers when they could just stay home? This is a wake up call for companies. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if companies are trying to cancel rent right now to help stop the bleed and just have people work at home "indefinitely."
As for automation, it will take a while but the benefits are obvious. 24/7 operation, less workers, reliable. You're removing so many factors that this incident really makes the idea stick in ones head.
Another interesting idea is 3-D Printers in hospitals, imagine being able to nearly instantly print out special, sterile parts instead of having a warehouse and hoping you can find the right one or that you didn't run out. Even for just temporary repairs, the economics and life saving potential is big.
These are the things you should research for after this event. People are going to be moving out of China, governments are going to support that, especially bringing manufacturing home, which automation will greatly help in doing. You might see those empty office buildings suddenly alive with floors of new automated machines.

What bulls don't get is that "Golden bullruns" don't just happen. When markets crash they go through deleveraging cycles and deflation.
2008 was unique, no one realizes the only reason that the v pattern happened was because the government came through with a bailout. Otherwise, any bear market will have life cycles just like any bull market.

You should be buying the dip all the way to the bottom. Have you not been grabbing shares of the good shit that momentarily gaps down? Regeneron randomly went to $420 last week, now it's back at $500. I was tempted but my DCA is ~370 so... I dunno.

tod a bunch of cash, some leveraged shorts, and some companies I'm adding to on the way down. I'm not going to time the bottom right, may even get burned by my shorts eventually. Calling a top or a bottom is more luck than anything, which is why no one ever really does it more than once.

>>17931093
I don't really see that as yellow or getting away with anything. Steve Weiss says he's buying more Skyworks Solution and then the chart ticks up briefly or trends up for the rest of the day. It's all pretty straightforward and anyone who buys based on a lazy shilling like happens on cnbc should know that if it goes wrong they only have themselves to blame.

I do.

I'm not buying the dip because I actually called near the top understanding the emminent liquidity problems the system was facing and how the fed is not reacting where needed to get liquidity into the system with fucking repo and QE.

If they don't change how they are doing this then expect the market to drop another 30% off ATH before we even think about buying back in.
