How exactly is a leveraged ETF valued? It trades on an exchange, so is the ETF's value:

1) mathematically determined, by something like
ETF(t) = ETF(t-1)*Leverage*Underlying(t)/Underlying(t-1)

2) determined by supply and demand?

so if the SP500 drops 3%, does SPXS automatically drop 9% as per some price-determination algorithm? If so how does bid/ask even work?

What is the evidence that oil production might actually get scaled back? My thoughts are putin is it for the long game and is gonna do this until US shale is dead and buried so as to grab larger market share. >For instance, if an ETF is designed to track the S&P 500 Index, the authorized participant will buy shares in all the S&P 500 constituents in the exact same weights as the index, then deliver those shares to the ETF provider. In exchange, the provider gives the authorized participant a block of equally valued ETF shares, called a creation unit. These unit are usually formed in blocks of 50,000 shares.

To answer your question, in my opinion it's super bullish because oil companies are oversold. People are afraid of oil going even lower and everything getting wiped out, leading bondholders owning the entire company and stock holders getting fucked. Go look at WLL's latest 8K where they lay out their plan for bankruptcy: noteholders are getting 97% of newly issued shares while existing shareholders are getting only a pro rata cut of 3% of newly issued shares.

Now, based on book value alone, that still puts the value of a share of stock today at something like $2, by my amateur calculations. Since the announcement it had been trading at about $0.3 and just now has spiked up to $0.54 in the last hour or so. I would have bought at $0.37 except that I'm not confident in my calculations for how the bankruptcy is going to affect the end value of the shares, so if I had bought then I'd be selling today just to lock in some gain and then I'd put it out of my mind.

I'm still holding a couple $155 apr24 SPY puts and a $100 apr24 BA put just because it's more trouble than it's worth to dump the SPY at such a massive loss and I still have faith in the BA put printing. But I'm not buying any more of that shit. I'm sticking to buying undervalued stocks and if any of them pop up to what I consider is a fair value I'm selling them, taxes be damned. Depends if you expect the oil deal tp go through or not. It might also be mixed, a short term deal with positive repercussions but no long term resolution, but if it goes south for some reason then we could expect stonks to tank.
