I need to dig into it but surely it will come back to the 20s, and 6 years of consistent divvy growth. I think it'll get cut again but it always has brookfield to fall back on and has quality properties which will always be in demand so they can afford to kick out tenants that don't pay. Unlike REITs that invest in random shopping centers BPY has flagship properties, just look at this, it isn't your local mall.

BAM has a share price of 28. Incredibly diversified and beats the market because they aren't a normal asset manager. They also have various LPs if you want to overweight in a specific sector. BER for renewables, BIP for infrastructure/utilities, BPY for high end retail real estate and office space. Link for you to look into. Also TDY under the 200s should be nice. Same with NEE

My bull thesis on this stock so far is that they have a boring, generic-sounding tech name, not dissimilar to Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), and we know what a winner ADP has been over the long term. That said, I'm still not sure exactly what this company's product is other than that it's some kind of healthcare software, so more research is necessary prior to investing.

For a serious answer:
- taxes are only functional in a healthy economy, you are very correct.
- during history, zero fiat currencies have survived.
- printing more money is like drinking more beer in order to avoid the inevitable hangover. But the hangover is inevitable, by definition.
- the money (that is printed now) goes in the financial markets. They are not 'real' (in circulation) and won't affect the rest of the economy as long as they remain inside stocks. I mean, literally inside the values of stocks, those are now like Pandora's jars.
- There is no runaway inflation because velocity of money has slowed down a lot with the quarantine. Like selling ice cream slows down a lot during winter. But as soon as the quarantine is over, VoM will speed up, everyone will be happy but that is the moment hyperinflation will kick in. But the dollar is the reserve currency of the world. If it falls, every other fiat fall. Maybe that status will go to the famous EUROCHAIN next? EU nations + the ECB together have more gold reserves than the US or other superpowers. This will take many years...
- In any case, the major incompetence and 'parenting' needed by these C-suites and banks and institutions and leaders are setting cracks in the system. Voters don't forget about being cheated on the money. The cracks are forming.

>TL;DR
your best bet is paying taxes and move either to the foretold bucolic comfy cottage in the woods (for US/Canada citizens) or to a zone of some EU nation of at least semi-decent nature (a mid city in France, an inland village in the Netherlands, south Germany, Norway, etc). Personally, I like Netherlands Antilles and Overseas France.

No. This first drop was a healthy correction and the smart money getting out. This next drop will be the real one. So many boomers are over leveraged into the market and many stocks still have lofty marketcaps when they start pulling money out of the market for retirement equities will be bleeding for about a whole decade. Why can normies not understand this? I've tried explaining this to people I seriously believed were intelligent and they refuse to believe that more people will be selling stocks to sustain themselves in retirement than there will be to buy them, let alone buy higher.

There are roughly 3 choices: WS trade, questrade and interactive brokers.

>WST
Free, but their US fee conversions are massive, outright useless to trade US stuff. Can't even hold USD. Fantastic if you trade purely canadian stuff and don't need the things they aren't adding to their selection (they disqualify things with low volume and market cap). App-only and garbage-tier app requires you to use something else to actually get market data (tradeview or one of the other brokers' softwares). Unless you planned to daytrade, it doesn't really matter.

>Questrade
Some people say it's as scummy as robinhood. Supposedly support is useless as well. Other than that, free buy on ETFs but NOT sells (regular rates of $4.95-9.95 as with stocks).
Overall pretty high fees (like anything cucknadian). Good for investing in US stocks and especially ETFs if you buy and hold with yearly rebalanced, too expensive for anything else.

>ibrk
Very low fees: $1 per trade minimum (same rate as questrade but their minimum is way lower). However, they have a $10/month account fee if your account is less than $100k USD. On the other hand, that's discounted against your trades: make 10 trades a month and the fee is therefore down to $0. May be viable for actual trading (position, probably not swing). Also has the lowest rates for options. I think they have a selection of free ETFs, but it's small. ibrk lite does NOT exist in canada, only in the US. They also automatically perform norbert's gambit for you if you request a currency conversion.
That said, because of tax regulations, you'll get buttfucked even further if you invest in US stocks in many circumstances, e.g. if you hold for dividends.
Thus, I recommend the following:

- WST for actual trading, restrict yourself to dual-listed or canadian stuff
- Questrade for investing
- ibrk if you MUST have us stocks and want to trade.

Eitherway, prepare the lube and thanks the government jews for the anal pounding.

It's 1.5% each way, so if you buy USD 100 you pay an extra 1.5, and if you sell USD 200, that's an extra 3.0, or 4.5 total for 100 profit, which is 4.5% in that artificial scenario. Think of it as a 3% fee if you want, but every profitable trade is actually a fee higher than 3% and every unprofitable trade is a bit less than 3%. Reminder that you can't actually hold USD, so you're forced to convert every time. It's even worse to think about for dividends: setup drip and you get USD dividends converted to CAD converted back to USD to rebuy the stocks.

No, you'd buy on ib pro and wait for ib lite. This avoids the 1.5% conversion fee and should make transfer easier. From the ibrk lite pamphlet, it looks like they're performing the first 3 back-and-forth between pro and lite immediately, and then once every quarter, which is still a pretty good wait time (considering their relatively low fees during the wait period, and assuming we aren't eligible for the automatic conversion).
I'm assuming, of course, that $1 is less than 3% of the value of the assets you want.

The advantage is overall marginal, for sure, and as a counter-point, I'll note that wstrade said they're planning to reduce (to suitable levels) USD conversion fees and to introduce USD holding accounts (which would enable norbert's gambit so no problem with conversion fees ever again), though no clue when that's happening. It sounds like a better bet, but again, no clue how they'd make money at that point and therefore not sure they'll ever pull through.
