Are we heading towards WW3?

1. Other countries dependence from the US has been declining since the 70's.
2. The economic disruption is here now and international trade is getting halted. What stops countries from not leaning towards USD anymore? A lot of the damage has been already done.

Plus: this is just stupid and indicative of a person who tries to share articles thinking it makes them look smart.

Currencies are mainly for paying taxes. Digital currencies aren’t going to majorly affect the status quo of nation-to-nation commerce. The biggest threat to the US’s standing of the nation with the reserve currency is a project like Libra which acts as a basket of currencies and is just generally a smarter idea for international commerce in theory, especially when things like exchange rates could be automatically accounted for using oracles.

But SWIFT is an American agency and is essentially the financial branch of the US government. Until you can understand the type of pressure that SWIFT can place upon nations via sanctions and other actions, you should just stop talking.

If you genuinely think the rest of the world has the ability to put the middle finger up against the US, you’re just ignorant to how the world works.

The main idea doesn’t even make sense. The central banks are discussing the creation of digital currencies for their own countries, not a single shared currency. So now, the Canadian Dollar, which is basically Itchy & Scratchy money for Americans, would be digital Itchy & Scratchy money. Great, who fucking cares?>>18391489

No one is “overtaking” Canada. Do any of you all read ANY history? The only nation at any risk of being “taken over” by the US is Venezuela.

If you think it is a coincidence that Maduro has been indicted during a major Saudi power play in the oil market, you’re mistaken.

I have ties to the former president of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, and I spent several years in Colombia and have learned quite a bit about USA’s affairs in the Americas

>> No.18391741

It goes much deeper than this. The alliances and agreements between nations are very complex contracts. To think that a few small countries are conspiring against the world super power is laughable. The US intelligence agencies would know more about such a conspiracy than the conspirators, especially with the current global political climate.
