develop apps for it. for a very long time the heavy lifting will be done by phones. the simple rfid chips are worthless secure identity chips that can open keyrings or sign will still require a device to do the actual applications, handle transactions and requests and store data and manage permissions and so on.

basically you can think of these chips as something that substitutes a strong password but unlike a strong password which could never be lifted from your dead body these can be removed and misappropriated. so it's a trade off between security for convenience. of course it can be combined with a weaker password/pin handled by the application layer or even the secure chip but that's not real hard security.
