>>18571063Best set
This one is probably one of the earliest sets I own.Got it as a birthday gift from my grandparents. My guess is that they thought getting a set featuring two planes instead of just one was good value.
Sadly, I didn't own that many pirate-themed sets growing up. I think I was a generation too late for those.I do fondly remember owning this one however. It featured a treasure chest with gold coins, and a sliding rock face revealing a spooky scary skeleton hiding inside.
I know that Ice Planet is a well-liked series among enthusiasts and nostalgiafags. The sets have an incredible blue and white color scheme contrasted by the bright orange clear panels. This is one of the sets that I owned. Of course it came with the orange transparent chainsaw piece.
>>18573599And this is the other set in this series I owned.I remember combining the two at one stage. I don't think the newer sets encourage rebuilding and designing your own creations as much.
I never owned any of the Stingray sets, even though they look cool as hell. Maybe one day I might get one.

>>18569887yeah it was no black monarchs castle but its the most expensive one I got
>>18588514There was a lot of customization, and there still is. You could get a new dude by mixing and matching any legs, arms, heads and weapons. The pieces were large but with a lot of holes for pins and axles, so you could add technic parts and keep expanding. The hero factory system was the true scam, called CCBS. Instead of nice parts with customization, everything is short pieces with balls and clips, no technic holes. All you can do is different sizes of skeletons and add clip-on bland armor. They use it for everything constraction, including a poor bionicle reboot and star wars action figures.
>>18589811That system was utter shit, even more shit than the ball and clip of post-metru nui era, the one that always broke.

>>18596066>So happy I have a son who will soon be able to play with this stuff and I can live vicariously through him.>>18596291They probably won’t like this stuff. They’ll watch YouTube celebrities play with toys insteadCan confirm. My son has like no interest in Legos. The little faggot likes sports and his tablet and shit instead.

>>18568562My dad got me this when I was 8a. I remember it was a friday evening and finished it that night. He came up to say goodnight and was so impressed with me for getting it done. "Wow you'd be a great architect anon!"He died of sudden cardiac death out of the blue back near christmas. This thread has brought me all sorts of feelings i dont wanna feel. Fucksake.

>>18602753Stealing is not nice, anon.Make sure to call your friend and tell him you're sorry.
All I have learned from this thread is that converting BTC to LEGO (physical) would be a decent long term play
The nostalgia of seeing these boxes brings an instant cure to my depression. Where did my life go so wrong
>>18580412I got this from the fucking tooth fairy, when I lost my first tooth. Shit was fucking magical back then.
>>18568214Based
>>18569808Knights Kingdom fucking sucks you nigger
>>18571109This one is incredible
>>18580412Unbelievably based
>>18592118that's my favorite set by far.also post your own creations. I've made a little DIY space setting with two factions some weeks ago... will deliver pics tomorrow morning if this thread is still up. rn the whole thing is in the kid's room and my daughter is asleep.
>>18568073That was a great set I should go upstairs and get out the Mummy and the truck I think I have them under the Bionicle
>>18587600one of the best RTS of all time.
The only Harry Potter set ever I owned was the original Hagrid's Hut.The roof was made of paper and didn't last very long, but I still liked the overall design of it. Also included was a rare baby dragon piece.
>>18605874The hut folds open to reveal a modestly detailed interior.
>>18570938I loved building this one. The arches were peak aesthetic
>>18589537I could never beat the slimy slug level, they always sapped my energy crystals faster than I could mine them. You needed starcraft levels of apm and strategy to beat that level what were they thinking.
anywhere to buy these old sets?
>>18606006I had two of those castles for whatever reason. Spent months playing with it
>>18605874>>18605919that's pretty neat

Who here was down on Knex?
>>18607920i always wondered; did people build something other than alien spaceships/planes with knex? that's how 90% of my builds ended up as a kid
>>18568123This, whatever you have in your wallet will be divided by 2.
>>18607977Other vehicles/robots
>>18568214Oh fuck yes. Who used to pretend the top of the stairs was the surface and used to send the sub under the water exploring (downstairs)?
>>18584708Man, I wanted the Playmo version of that set. If I'd known there was also a Lego set...
>>18589451>>18590130>look up Galidor>Ninjago set has a minifig that wears a Galidor t-shirt.
>>18591756the small swiss army knife blade is the best thing to use
>>18609032The lego movie has one dude with a blacktron shirt. The designers of today are the kids among us that could actually do it big and work at what they liked all their lives.
Too bad this thread was a dumpster fire of nostalgia instead of being about the actual topic OP presented. Its worth discussing. Usually we see a smal pump prior and dump after, then within months a parabolic rise from looking at past events I guess. I built a parrot out Legos when I was 7 from a picture on the box and then realized it was gay and asked my parents for a Sega to play Mortal Kombat.

I owned some of these but mostly I just loved looking in the little catalogue that was usually with the Lego section. Now it's all branded shit. Strange to think that we'll be collecting lego and old video games and pcs just like boomers love their muscle cars and boats
>>18568214>>18568073mfw i had both these and the artic base toodamn i had it good..
>>18568073>Gun in the coffee cupBut why?
>>18585137I do. I still have a mutation of this thing in my lego chest. Or at least I did before I gave it to my 4 year old cousin.
>>18609238perfect for a kid playing with lego
this will forever be my favorite lego set even if the life on mars franchise was mid. the pump thing was too much fun.
