How much does it matter that Bitcoin is the first blockchain ever and has the biggest mind share worldwide? Is being a faster, better technology (ETH) enough to close the gap with digital gold?

the crypto market is made up of a bunch of coins that don't have any real world value and are just speculative. so faster and better doesn't really matter. it's like gold vs silver i guess,

Welcome to biz newfag
Theyre completely different things
Learn what proof of stake and proof of work are
Then learn the difference between a calculator and a pc

lmao delusional fag who still believes magical crypto tokens will change the internet

Yes, network effects matter. but what matters more is how much it costs to attack a blockchain and how long that chain's history is--the higher both are, the more secure a chain is

Scalability is a red herring because the tradeoff is always decentralization

ETH clogged up with cryptokitties. They want to implement Proof of Stake(POS), but it is still doubtful if they deliver.

POS is an entry point to have the rich get richer, and unless you can buy now >1% of coins to stake in existance you and all your decendants will live in slavery.

POW as everything else on this world needs energy, so you could say it is fairer, POS just needs you to have stake.

Please research Bitcoin a bit more, especially the other chainforks like BCH and BSV, so you can understand what exactly happenend duirng the segwit fork.

The settlement time of 10 min in bitcoin is not truly relevant, BSV for example has zero confs, so you can move money many times around before those 10 min are up. The 10 min is settlement time, akin to VISA settling a card payment after 90 days. YOu as a consumer do not really get to see that bit of info.

oh, and BSV can do everything that ETH can do, and more.

this >>18898069 is a jew who has bitcoins but needs more people to buy bitcoin so the price can go up and he can sell it for more than he bought it for because thats all bitcoin can do. Tezos already does proof of stake, you can read about that too. Most here hold link and eth because youll be able to stake them (again, learn what that means). I suggest you also learn about brave and bat for an example of other tokenomics that could make somdthing valuable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAuPpNjxApo
Bitcoin litecoin xrp bch ... theyre all competing for the same role as a currency, but usd will win that war anyway. Good luck
