One of my earlier jobs was in a manufacturing plant. I worked on an assembly line doing the most mind numbing things you can think of. Counting out 4 different sizes of screws and putting them into a bag, pushing a rod into a hole, screwing a single screw into a harness, over and over and over and over and over. It was soul draining. I got the fuck out of there in 6 months after watching all of the lifeless wrecks who had been doing that garbage for 10, 20, 30+ years.

I watched some old guy come to work and cry through his shift because his son was in the hospital but he would be dinged if he didn't show up because we couldn't run the line without 6 people.

I realized those people weren't victims, they did it to themselves, they let someone else do that to them. Don't let someone do that to you. You gotta fight for yourself man.

It gets better. It might get worse for awhile, but it gets better.
