Work at the NIH. This is complete bullshit. Its the way we calculate incidence and prevalence but fucking people without a public health degree don't know the difference between the two.

Plus, NIH has no benefit of making COVID scenario worse because its fucking disaster right now. We can only have 1/3 people staffed. Before virtually everything was remote. Experiments have been delayed. Mice model shit experiments are all fucked. All cell culture is fucked. Its setting back research at least a year. By pretending its worse, we just fuck CDC and NIH research for years.

If people would fucking stop being retarded, this shit would be over already. Thank you Texas and Florida. Thank you Southern States.

Let me find my NIH badge so can cite me.

Wow, this needs to be covered by more people. If they say there's an "increase in cases", then they need to be clear that those numbers are associated with this criteria of: subjective fever/headache/cough/shortness if breath/contact with a confirmed case, not even through actual testing. The fact that this criteria was adopted in places like Collin county in Texas, and now we're seeing spikes in cases there, despite mortality not increasing, is very important to let people know.

It doesn't make sense how standing shoulder to shoulder in rioting/protests won't cause a spike in cases (and if it were the case that being outdoors made a difference, than why were global lockdowns in the first place?), and yet people will blame going into bars...

You know the most amazing thing about the COVID hoax? It means that the entire world, even countries that apparently are against each other like the US, China and Iran, are all capable of actually working together with an incredible rate of efficiency in order to pull off scams.
Think of the teams of translators required to send the "We are going to scam the whole world!" documents to everyone, the thousands of public health professionals who had to be brought on board without a single one stepping up to say "This is a scam and here is the documentation inviting me to the scam".
Personally I think it's comfy af knowing the entire global health and political infrastructure is so profoundly skilful and capable that they can pull of a scam that requires 10s of thousands of people to propagate it, without a single one blowing the whistle.
And the only people that saw through the cam, by some crazy coincidence, are the uneducated retards who believe whatever crazy bullshit that they like the look of,
that they see on facebook. What a world.

I am in the NINDS & NCI and holy fuck. Its going to send back cancer research years. It wasn't until recently that the clinical hospital could even function for novel treatments.

Anything that isn't stable is fucked. Any protein experiment is fucked because long term storage will fuck with the structure.

This is setting back biomedical research so far back. I spent so much time just analyzing same data because we couldn't get next data.

When you have to do mice experiments, well fuck you have to do it next year at this rate. Models require a certain age and when you can't even access your lab then F.

Its a nightmare and I wish this COVID shit would be done because its setting back the biomedical field, wasting NIH budget, fucking research, and while less strict initially it was a nightmare. I mean its still a nightmare.

Fuck, I am glad I got one of my main experiments done early and its being published soon. If it wasn't ready, I would have wasted a year of my life. I know many people who are in way worse situation at the NIH.

We have nothing to gain by lying about this. We have enemies of the state fucking siding with us with COVID.

If a second wave hits, its GG for research.

Those people are fucking retards. When you publish something, all you have to do is state under potential conflict of interest or funding source when you publish something. If you don't and the NIH finds out, you are fired.

Sciencemag is one of the best journals in the world. I actually applaud them for actual having a news feed that isn't written for solely scientists to understand and its free. Granted the gritty details for biologists are under a huge paywall, they have done more than Nature has. This is their pay wall shit https://science.sciencemag.org/

Go try an read a nature new article without a science background. Its impossible.

If you publish an research article in Science, Nature, New England Journal of Medicine, or Lancet, then GG you won at life in terms of the science field.

They even wear masks and share shit on social media with other people in the field as though it's actually real. They even warn us from time to time, carrying on the charade, thru texts and calls reminding us to stay safe. They've even changed their daily routines to avoid shopping when stores are busy. My mom even avoids stores and goes to middle schools giving out free lunches to people in need during the (((crisis))). My mom even went as far as to insist she won't shop outside for a week because the virus is spreading like crazy in California. It's crazy how close to home these agents can be. I am still getting paid but like my life's work is fucked. I am glad my main experiment is done and submitted for publication but I feel like I am just wasting tax dollars by doing almost everything remotely.

I mean people out going into crowds during the july unironically deserve to be fucked. Its the people who they will spread it to that makes it unfair. It is just cruel.

I really hope I am wrong about the after effects of july 4th because I don't want to neck myself by doing nothing by waste NIH funding and tax payers dollars by essentially being paid to not do anything while just getting myself more and more behind in research.

The vast majority of protesters are non violent. There were major protests worldwide and only a few major areas had people hurt and property damage. There were major protests in my city and protesters followed all laws and didn't hold up traffic. This is america. Freedom of assembly and speech is protected under the first ammendment. Noone is stopping you from protesting for your second ammendment protections. Yeah covid could spread but I really don't want a violent uprising which could result in more death than whatever covid is responsible for. Most protesters are practically kids anyway so they won't die even if they do get sick.

That's good to know. I'm happy everyone was so supportive of the anti-lockdown protests early this year as well. It wasn't like they were told to get back inside to not kill people just for a haircut or to save large corporations (who weathered lockdowns/vandalism better than small businesses).

Absolutely. Words don't mean much, that's why the media doesn't bother having a bias because it doesn't result in influencing peoples' perception of an event. It's not like they make people one sort of protest/rally spreads sars-cov, while the other doesn't for reasons like "uhhh...we're not sure if asymptomatic carriers are infectious" or "you're outdoors, don't worry, this magically didn't apply to other protests though".

Trivial inconvenience is what you call air travel industries and hospitalitily industries industries getting destroyed? Millions unemployed, and trillions printed to provide for bond investments and to pay people out of work? Smaller businesses getting hit hard and larger tech firms being enabled to assume a larger market share, due to not being impacted by lockdowns? That's all trivial.

Not to mention the other social issues that come with people being forced to stay at home (domestic violence, depression, etc).

People were/are being killed by the virus (just like many other viruses kill people). What I would like to know about a piece of information is this:
How many of those extra deaths were related to covid-19? Of those covid-19 deaths, what were the age demographics and health demographics? Also, if possible, how many occurred in rest homes (particularly in those where "recovering covid-19 patients were placed)?

How many of those extra deaths were not related to covid-19? How many were due to delayed operations/treatment, as a result of lockdowns? How many were due to suicides? How many were due to domestic abuse? How many were due to drug overdose (especially opioids)? People losing their jobs and being locked down creates many flow on effects.
