Argument for buying: Gold is in a bull market, and even if you wait long enough to get the cash together to buy an Oz, it will probably have risen so much in price in that time that you'll ultimately lose money.
Argument for waiting until you have enough for 1oz: Premiums are super high, it might not rise fast enough and you might end up saving money by avoiding premiums.

Personally I would say buy now, but wanted to also show you the argument against it. My guess is that even if you're paying a 10-15% premium buying grams or fifths of an ounce or whatever, if it's going to take you more than a week to save up for an ounce you will probably save money just buying now.

look at premiums as the cost to buy phsycial.

1 oz of gold is apprx 2600 CAD, there will be a 100$+ premeum on this
so 2700 total

70 oz of silver is also about 2700, including premiums, but almost 500$ of that is premiums.

in other words, the cost to convert ~2700$ of fiat into gold is just over 100$, the cost to convert 2700$ of fiat into silver is ~500$

Don't be too hard on yourself, the 5% match means even if your retirement account halves, you still haven't lost money technicallly (except due to inflation). If the stock market actually collapses and the dollar goes to zero, it's not really going to matter whether you did or didn't invest in TSP or PMs or anything else, we'll all be massively fucked in a mad max hellscape.

Fellow govcuck here, I used to maxx my TSP but dropped it down to 5% a few years ago to spend the extra on PMs and BTC.

One theory, JPM's silver was bought for the US gov. They rode this system out as far as it would go and now its time to crash it, silver to the moon first to get it in everyone's head that its valuable and then boom, no worries citizens we have lots of silver to make our new currency, look how smart we were to plan ahead.

Another theory, the elites have been accumulating all these years, they have control of the big banks that have been suppressing prices for all these years. Now that there is a supply shortage incoming there is no point keeping the price down, there is nothing to accumulate anyway from a tonnage perspective. Time to ride it up and take their massive profits before they switch to the next thing.

hmm ya I just some big shaq quick maf and if I get 1kg of silver the fee is ~94 on1308$cad and 1/2oz of gold is ~1402 with a ~92 fee.

i think i see the benefit of silver, if I were to buy 1/2oz of gold, gold would need to raise to ~2800CAD for me to "break even" where as if I buy 1kg of silver, silver will only need to raise to ~37cad for me to "break even".

both seem probable but since silver is more volatile I can see the appeal as silver would only have to go up a little were gold will have to continue to ATH.

i think im going to stick with silver until I can buy larger increments... assuming "it" doesent happen
