>>20793506Oh look it's fucking nothing and OP sucks nigger cock as usual.
>>20793506NO!!!!!!MY LINKIES!!!!AHH
This is really fucking bad. They have leaked addresses and names of people who have bought Ledgers. It means anyone can get that information and come to your house with a gun to get your cryptos.
>>20793735This is not nothing. Everyone who has ever bought a Ledger now has their name and address tied to it, privately now and publically soon.
>>20793803Only if you bought off their website and most of the people who bought one just filled their bags with worthless shitcoins and have had to sell a kidney to cover their debts by now anyway.
you have to wonder.. if those retarded frogs cannot even properly safeguard their website ... whether your funds are really safe. next do the chance now of niggers showing up at your house to steal your ledger.
This is insanely bad for anyone who has bought a Ledger
Tick tock stinktards hahahah the criminals are comingbetter take your ledger to a bank vault hahahah they are coming for you linkies hahah
>>20793779Lmao imagine living in America hahaha
>>20793779WTF I HAVE NO FUNZ HERE
Uh wait. Is this why I got this random ass text the other day? Never clicking, not even a little curious.
They are coming for you Chainstinkers and you cannot hide
Oh waitHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHI BOUGHT MY LEDGER AND SHIPPED IT TO MY OLD ADDRESSLAND LORD IS GONNA GET A GUN UP HIS ASS WHILE THE POLLACKS ARE LOOKING FOR NOTHINGHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
>>20793779>https://www.ledger.com/addressing-the-july-2020-e-commerce-and-marketing-data-breach>After a thorough investigation by our security team and Orange Cyberdefense, we can conclude the ecommerce and marketing database has been breached. By the time of this posting, all affected customers will have received an email with this update. If you haven't received an email from ledger after the 21st of July letting you know your data has been taken then it doesn't affect you. If you have you might want to get a gun.
Glad I bought mine from a third party amazon seller now
>>20793561They are really down playing this breach... it's fucking extremely bad. Best case scenario and your details are getting sold on the dark web. If you own a ledger and live in a rich neighborhood (higher chance of large balance) some amateur burglar could buy your details and just stake out your place for a month. Worst case scenario and armed gang performs a home invasion and forces a crypto transfer. Niggers murder eachother over a couple grand worth of drug money, now they know your address and know you have at least that much.
>>20794536Niggers don't understand crypto. If anything they'll steal your ledger and sell it on Facebook with your crypto still on it
>>20794650replaced that word nigger with highly organized gang. u should be afraid fucking retard.
these fools who willingly break and enter into Linkies domain are NGMI
so that only concerns sales made directly at Ledger's own webstore right? If you sold form a reseller than basically you're good
>>20794289False they are sending emails today. Look at ledger twitter. Tweets and replies. What a mess
shit I literally finally got one like 2 days ago. I can assume I'm good as they probably learned their lesson and doubled down on security after this shit
>>20793961I wonder if billing addresses were compromised?Plenty probably had theirs delivered to PO boxes and places of employment.
>>20795040Yeah right.
>>20795040billing address is the same as my landlordsI treated that place as my home until I found out paying $800 working from home was pointless and moved back to my parentsAlso I only used my first and last name. It's quite generic and there are thousands with that name combination in my country>inb4 Muhammad Seif
companies should be sued for shit like this
>>20793938yo... yoouu.... youuuu clicked it... didnt you?
>>20793506I get that it's really bad that a tech company that failed to secure it's customer data, but how is this fundamentally different from >we know this person has a bank account, therefore they have a bank pass and we can threaten them to withdraw and give us that money95% of crypt holders is still pajeet tier <$1000 portfolios, so nless they can match wallet adreses to the person adresses, it's still not that bad probably. Not anymore than having an expensive car or house puts a target on your backAlso, marketing department so probably there's also people who at some point filled in a newsletter e-mail or whatever but never actually bought one. Imagine their situation if the Russian mob shows up
>>20793961Same here HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>20795333>95% of crypt holders is still pajeet tier <$1000 portfoliosBased retard you don't buy a ledger if you have a jeetfolio.
>>20795214Your name isn't as bad as your address, but both is as bad as it gets. I know if i was one of the 9500 i'd be seriously considering moving. The only people that would purchase that information off the deep web aren't going to be doing it to send you a physical letter asking for your seed phrase. The truth is they have probably been taking names/address off ledger website for years but ledger only keeps a month internet log so only know of the most recent breach. Time to go on the deepweb and buy any address in my suburb so no one else gets it.
>>20795390>but ledger only keeps a month internet log so only know of the most recent breachThen how did I get an email when I ordered over 2 years ago mr. shill?
worst thing is there's no consequence for them
>>20795414Re-read what i wrote, i was saying hackers have probably been breaching them for ages... its pretty convenient that they find the breach and it was only used once half a month ago. More likely its been used before but they dont have server access logs that go back very far. When did you get an email?
>>20795541>When did you get an email?Couple hours ago.
>>20795574everyone got it. only 9500 had addresses leaked
>>20795709>only 9500 had addresses leakedHow far back do the leaked orders go?
>>20795727they dont say shit. they should contact those 9500 people. fucking frogs
>>20795744Why did they not contact them when they learned of the leak 1 week ago?Imagine someone already got murdered or robbed because of this and they didn't do anything else than protect their own company.
>>20795382No. It is actually those with jeetfolios who buy this. Ledger is cheap. Whales know better because they themselves can buy Ledger the company if they wanted to.
>>20795709Why should it be only 9.500 addresses and not the complete fucking database if the attacker had access to it for an entire day? Its probably a mere self-serving declaration.
>>20795574>>20795709I didn't get any emails from ledger. Not from Europe so maybe it was just euro details leaked as french company has to follow euro law and keep euro details?
>>20795962Do you realize there are intermediate options between jeets and whales? Not whales but still very profitable?
>>20796000I am curious too about this part.Is it because they only kept the addresses for some people for a shorter amount of time depending on the laws of the receiver's country for data retention?Or did this third party specifically use these 9500 addresses for things like replacing a defect ledger for example or sending a gift?I don't know what the failure rate of Ledger HW is, but 9500 from 1 M would put it at 1% of the total. This could be related to people who sent back their defect Ledger and got a new replacement.
>>20795962>>20796055What do whales use?
>>20796000checked. i think it's related to the global scale FUD happening right now with crypto, i,e twitter hack. my best guess is this is a controlled op inside and out.
>>20796060It makes me so fucking angry. They could at least tell those people who's address got leaked. Fucking French scum. I'll finish those motherfuckers. How retarded can you be.I bet way more addresses than those 9k got leaked anyway
>>20796055Keep pushing your narrative then. I do not how you profit from scaring people away from Ledger, unless you are from Trezor or Coinbase or Binance. Not my problem either way, because real men buy gold bullions. Enjoy your jeetcoins.
>>20796097Same for me..It's already stressful enough to follow the crypto space and try not to love all your money.I don't want to also fear for my life...I can't trust them anymore. We need to make a list of measures to take to protect ourselves from this.We may have to move our funds to a different wallet, and some of us may have to move out to a different address and to buy defense weapons with an advanced security system. If you get an official visit from someone pretending to be a police officer you should refuse to open your door and contact the police immediately...
>>20795709>>20795709I didn't tick the box when I bought my ledger to subscribe to their marketing emails, so I don't have any emails from them that I can see... (Not even a purchase confirmation email?) What is the official email address they are using to send out emails to customers?
>>20796072An exit scam lol. What else.
>>20796151Whatever makes you sleep at night :)Tick tock, motherfucker, tick tock...
>>20796097>>20796097>I bet way more addresses than those 9k got leaked anywayYou can be sure of it...>Since when does this issue exist?>The API key misconfiguration at issue has been running since August 9th, 2018. Based on the information we have, we believe it was discovered and exploited from April 2020 to June 28th, 2020. The exploit was possible for 2yrs.
>>20796183how is "this guy bought a ledger thus he must be very rich so I will rob him" fundamentally different from "this guy bought a very expensive tv/car/horse/wife whatever so I can rob him"

you guys shipped your ledger to your house and not the post office ?
>>20796257>we believe it was discovered and exploited from April 2020 to June 28th, 2020So according to them only orders from this time would have their addresses leaked?
>>20796346
>>20796097>>20796166Fuck these fucking french faggots, they should compensate every single affected person.
>>20796257>The API key misconfiguration at issue has been running since August 9th, 2018.I actually ordered my device before that. But I still got the E-Mail though.I can't move my place neither, because I own the house.Fuck, I really get stomache pain even thinking about it
>>20796261>tv/car/horse/wifeThey aren't easily stolen and impossible to return. Even a billionaire can only withdraw $1000 from an ATM at gun point. But if he was a crypto billionaire he could be robbed for his billions. There is nothing comparable to crypto when it comes to theft. The next closest thing is knowing someone has $20,000 of drug money in his home but he is going to be prepared for a home invasion, unlike a crypto hoarding neet. If you had ledger addresses you would just select the ones in the most expensive neighborhoods and go rob them and within 12hrs you could be worth a million dollars. Explain how that is possible in any other scenario without expecting to run into paid armed guards and bank level security?
>>20796389with what, new kneecaps?
This is why you buy gold, not internet coins! You let pros handle your bullions.
>>20796261Hmm I wonder. How is someone deciding to steal your car any different from someone knowing you have a digital asset that can be instantly and irreversibly transferred to them? Oh yeah maybe that it isn't covered by insurance and no criminal is going to peel off your fingernails because they think your car is a decoy and they want to know where the chirron is parked.
>>20796261The biggest difference is that it's retarded to commit crime on a public, immutable ledger.https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/global-darknet-child-porn-probe-leads-to-337-arrests-1.4642353
>>20796393And these pieces of shit claim they beed to store that data because of legal reasons. What fucking legal reasons could there possibly be to store such sensitive customer information
>>20793506OP is a fag and I ain't clicking shit
>>20796261>how is "this guy bought a ledger thus he must be very rich so I will rob him" fundamentally different from "this guy bought a very expensive tv/car/horse/wife whatever so I can rob him"Are you dumb? The point is that cryptos can be transferred very fast and very easy, without any limits and without any way to get it back.
>>20796422>>20796440good points. But still that means (and I agree btw) that people of which can be assumed they are very rich AND have their ledger adress leaked are at higher risk now, not that everybody who owns a ledger and is knows usddenly is a HVT for armed robberies>>20796439not sure what you mean by this, but interested can you elaborate?
my email along one MILLION others, and im supposed to shit bricks here? lmao who gives a shit, nothing will happen
>>20796468also leaving a permanent, immutable evidence trail of the crime
>>20796506What are privacy coins. Jesus fucking christ you are so clueless. You are in DEEP SHIT
>>20796530lol, which exchange are you going to use?
>>20796468IF the robber is completely sure the victim is actually rich. But it's still armed robbery probably in someones house so there's a risk in that and lets say the average balance is maybe like $5000, how is this overall a btter course of action than just robbing rich peoples jewerly or scamming old people?
>>20796443>What fucking legal reasons could there possibly be to store such sensitive customer informationZero. And you don't link it to an API key neither. This is not even like a mistake, which could happen. This is just straight up pathetic. They also said that the leak exists since August 2018.I ordered my device before that and still got the E-Mail.So expect that literally everybody who ordered from them is fucked.I also don't believe the 9k number in any way. Why only addresses of 9k people and not the rest? Where is the explanation for that? They just want to safe their face in my opinion. Otherwise they could just inform those 9k people. But it obviously is everybody
>>20794536>some amateur burglar could buy your details and just stake out your place for a monthHas staking started, then?
>>20793506Lol, my info has been circulating for years. I have been in so many data breaches at this point I just assume everyone has my info.
I ordered mine in march 2018. I got an email, it doesn't say my addresses was one of the ones leaked though, just that the leak has happened.I've moved since then so I think I'm OK.
>>20793779YikesThis is why you buy used on eBayCrypto is full of retards
>>20796632Thats not safe either as the device mightve been tampered with retard
Ledger now owes it customers to design a product with multiple points of abundance. If more than 25% of the total assets are wished to transferred, the person has to go on a video call walking through his house/apartment to confirm he has no gun to his head and maybe even set it that way that your family members, wife also have to.The person owning the ledger can not sign the tx without the Ledger entity giving the OK and vice versa. There should be a possibility to choose between this and the old fashioned solution that there is now, when setting up the deviceThis should be free of charge.
>>20796643i think that's the joke my man
>>20793779if you bought from a reseller you're fine though
>>20796676still raises the question if the same thing doesn't hold, does the average reseller have unhackable customer data?
Yes, if our data show you are concerned by the personal information data leak, you will receive a dedicated email today at 5pm CEST. If your postal address is concerned, it will be specified.ledger guy on reddithttps://reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/hzwcft/_/fzlxec5/?context=1
>>20796692>does the average reseller have unhackable customer data?no but when ledger sells 85% of their products inhouse and the rest percentage is divided by like 100 retailers from all of the world. The risk of them becoming a target is lower
anyway, banks will now hold crypto accounts. When the bull run really begins, almost everybody will own crypto so who cares if someone knows you ordered a ledger
>>20796692Less likely to be hacked. Companies like ledger have to be able to withstand government agencies hacking them to steal untraceable black project funds. Your average reseller is too small time to attacked capable adversaries.
am i affected by this if i bought a ledger over amazon?
>>20796725>3.5 hours until you know if the dark web is coming over for dinner
>>20796000Feels like this whole operation is staged. I guess it is time to move. This golden bull market is going to explode and the powers that be want your info.
>>20796725But, if your email address and home address have ever been linked on another compromised website, you're also fucked.
>>20793506people actually bought these things? just put your shit on a fucking encrypted storage device. even an encrypted thumb would be as good. keep it unplugged when you aren't using it. done. wtf is wrong with people?
That's why you should never trust an EU company with your data.
>>20796558because u would have to snuggle that shit across boarder with crypto u can send it to Ivan
I FUCKING TOLD YOUUSE GPG AND UBUNTUALL HW WALLETS ARE INSECURE HW WALLETS PUT YOU IN EXTREME DANGER PLEASE STOP USING HW WALLETS
didn't the same shit happen a while ago too? i remember data of people's addresses being leaked

>>20797419they've only sent the generic email out yet. Another 3 hours before you know what has been leaked specific to you.they claim only 9500 had name and or email and or postal address, which seems retarded wouldn't it be everyone?
>>20797464>they claim only 9500 had name and or email and or postal address, which seems retarded wouldn't it be everyone? It definetly seems retarded. I am by no means an expert. But if those french niggers had their customer database airgrapped, and the hacker had access to it, then why should Mr. Hacker have been able to only get 9500 addresses? Doesn't make sense to me at all.I really hope someone takes Ledger out or their CEO/employeesEven worse than getting scammed by a Chink project
>>20797464The only way it wouldn't be everyone is if it was only the people that purchased it during those times. They probably use the same 'marketing database' to hold your physical address for the postage side of thing until after like a month of it being sent.
>>20797464Well it does seem like bullshit, probably best to assume all customers have had all their info leaked. It really is fucked, I don't even live at the same place nor do I have crypto anymore but I fear for my parents...
>>20797598We can only hope
They have fucked up really bad. You can change from Ledger to Trezor or even sell all of your crypto and you might still be a target. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next summer, maybe in 5 years. Even your email address is enough, if you have used it in anywhere else where you have given other info about yourself, or if your real name can be traced based on your email address. You will be forever a person who holds crypto, even if you don't.Owning crypto is 100 times more tempting for criminals than Lambo's or mansions. It can be stolen in matter of seconds and it doesn't leave any traces if transferred properly.EU's GDPR clearly states anyone can get compensation and this case passes easily."You can claim compensation if a company or organisation hasn’t respected the data protection law and you’ve suffered material damages (for example financial loss) or non-material damages (for example distress or loss of reputation). You can make a claim to the company or organisation concerned or before the national courts. You can claim compensation before the courts of the EU Member State where the controller or processor is established. Alternatively, such proceedings may be brought before the courts of the EU Member State of your habitual residence."Ledger as a company is fucked. They will have to pay millions to customers and their CEO is already packing his bags.

>>20797741Ever heard of privacy coins?
>>20797809how are you going to exchange them
you are all acting like hysterical women, literally no one cares about you enough to spend the energy and effort needed to track you down based on an email address and hope you're one of the few people that actually have any substantial crypto holdings. like anyone is willing to rob someone and risk jail not knowing if the payout is gonna be worth it. the people dumb enough to do something like that don't even know what a blockchain is

Guys some dude in a suit came by my house to discuss the benefits of investing in bitcoin. Surely just a coincidence right
They cant know peoples eth addresses based on this though, right? Just their names and house address (which is bad still). If I bought mine in 2017 am I safe?

>>20801383good luck anon
>>20801473Thanks man
Fuck meI bought a Ledger for me, then moved to a different address and bought another one for my brother as a gift. So now they know my new address.
Anons check your junk email because I received an email saying I was among the 9500. Only name and surname were accessed.
>>20800744Or just use Trezor
Didn't receive the email, good
>>20801236Well chance of the same hacker on here is also likely and collecting ur data. Mentioning 2017 and consider this is a link board perhaps they can take a guess.
So is this the generic email sent to anyone who bought a Ledger or is this the email sent to only the 9500 who had their addresses leaked?
>>20801885That's the generic email.
>>20801885i didnt even get the generic one
>>20801885The email says in bold what info was compromised.
>>20801383Wew, no 2nd email seems like I'm safe. Now all my underwater shitcoins are safe to rot to zero.
>>20794536this will literally never happen retard
It's 5:15 CET and I still have no email. They better not be emailing only people who are compromised, but emailing everyone and letting them know specifically.
Doesnt the same concern apply to when binance got hacked or any other kyc exhange. They know your info and that you have crypto. So unless you only ever used dexs or faked everything, seems like you are at risk. And if the gov database gets hacked they can check your tax filings and know you hold crypto. There is no end to being paranoid if you really think about it.
>>20802177Have you checked junk email?
>>20802245>the voices are coming backthanks anon
>>20796911Hardware wallets are basically another form of 2fa you fucking retard. It's about keeping your seed phrase secret
>>20802177>It's 5:15 CET and I still have no email. They better not be emailing only people who are compromised, but emailing everyone and letting them know specifically. They clearly stated only the 9500 were going to receive an email. You're safe
>>20797700>>20801393>>20795414>>20801697Perhaps we should organise a petition. I don't know if it would be best for all customers to do it or only the ones in the EU especially France since that would presumably be a lot easier. Then make a seperate petition for burgers. Are you in France? Luckily I didn't get the email that my address was leaked, but maybe we can still sue on the basis that it could have been? Can we take them to kleros court perhaps?
>>20802245this. Also both mastercard and Visa will start to issue crypto compatible cryptocurrencies, so having crypto is going to be normal soon
>>20794536DESU if I was a criminal and wanted to do criminal things and PHYSICALLY go after people, there are many more efficient ways than going after leaked addresses of ledger holders. Because its a gamble and you dont know if they are holding the big bucks. You have no fucking clue if they are actually rich or not. If you are rich and flaunting it, if you have a really, really big home, driving a lambo, yeah sure, then I would be worried. But for the average holder living in their average middle class home, all you will have to worry about are hacking attempts which happen all the time anyway. If your personal info is leaked, thats a bit worse, you might have to worry about identity theft, but there is protection against that as well. That is why if you make it YOU TELL NO ONE. You dont go flaunting your wealth. If you go flaunting your wealth, you're asking for it. But I doubt we'll see armed home invasions lol. You arent that important.
I thought the mail comes at 5:30? Not 5:00? Can anyone confirm this?
>>20793779TFW moved and some dumb bitch I absolutely hate lives at my old house :)
>>20802352>That is why if you make it YOU TELL NO ONE. You dont go flaunting your wealth. If you go flaunting your wealth, you're asking for it.Whats the point then
>>20802425Based retard, the bitch will immediately give your new address to the niggers
>>20802401Mine came 4.15
copy/paste the follow up email if you received it. i don't believe these lying french fucks
>>20802430What do you mean? You think if you make it you can just plaster that shit all over social media like an idiot? Yeah, you can do that...but know that the more wealth you flaunt, the bigger target it makes you for criminals. It's that simple. If you're comfortable making yourself a target, then go for it. The point of making it is that you have freedom. Freedom to start your own business, freedom to go on vacation, freedom to homeschool your kids, freedom to spoil your wife, freedom to take time off when you want to. That is the true point of being wealthy. If you want to flaunt your lambo on instagram, a fool is easily parted with their money. When I make it, no one is gonna know except my immediate family. Not even my closest friends will know right away.
>>20796743because it will prove you got in crypto when bitcoin was 10k and eth 300 (which will then be worth 1,000x those prices)
>>20802430to be comfy and not have to wage slave for shekelstein

So even if my address would leak out, you're telling me I should be worried...why? I live in a broke ass appartment a 20 minute bus ride from where the financial & lawyer district of my country is. I'm talking thousands of people in tech, banking and law wearing $3000 suits daily, spending $100's on lunch daily, having bankaccounts more than what we consider "making it", very likely at east half of the ones under 40 years old also have crypto (at least some BTC) and yet you're telling me organized crime would come after me because they know I've bought a ledger? yeeeah I don't think so
come on /biz/ step it up. we need to sue, especially us french anons.
>>20802650>Those things you mention will immediately make clear to anyone that you made itAgain it depends on your social media footprint. Do you post everything about your life?
What should I do?

>>20802840Get a gun, yes. You should have one anyway. But I would be more on alert for identity theft and hacking attempts. Just use your common sense.

>>20802840pls post complete screenshot, i just got the generic mail without detailed
When did you guys make your accounts/buy a Ledger?I made the account and bought one in December '17, and I haven't gotten a second email. Pretty lousy that they can't manage to give people a timeframe for when their addresses were at risk.
This was the second email btw, and it showed up under spam
>>20803100wat
>>20803270Ouch
>>20803232>August 9th, 2018 - June 28th, 2020Says so in one image ITT. I bought one in mid 2018 and one in June 2020 I think. IDK whether I got lucky here and dodged a bullet (literally) in regards to the timeframe, or I'm simply not affected.
>>20803270sue them
Even though I've been downplaying this a little bit, I do have to say that I think its utterly pathetic that not only did this happen, but that it took someone of the community to discover this, and not Ledger themselves. Utterly disgraceful. I smell a possible class action lawsuit in the works.
I was looking at getting ledger nano x is this a sign not to?
>>20796632
>>20798175no they show up to anons house whos address and name was on the database with a wrench and beat the shit out of you because in their minds you hold a lot of crypto because you have the device and if you don't send it to them it is only because you're lying and haven't been tortured enough

>>20803100same here. no idea how they got my contact info.
>>20803270You and the others who were exposed should sue. There isn't enough pressure on Ledger to not fuck up again unless they are sued. I'd argue you stand to gain money from doing it as well.

>tfw criminals now have my ex's address>tfw never told her where I live now
>>20796422The best thing about being robbed at gunpoint for your seed phrase is that even if you legitimately have secured your seed/private key in a way that isn't physically proximate and isn't easily recollectable (like splitting your key in 3 and holding the parts in different safe deposit boxes), they just won't believe you and will keep drilling your knuckles and eye sockets until you're dead. Versus gold or money where they can ransack your house and actually discover you really don't own any.

>>20793506Crypto wallets should be able to enable address whitelisting like exchanges have. If potential burglars knew it would take a week to set up a new whitelist address to one of their owned wallets, they wouldn't bother. Unless they planned on camping out for a week in the guy's home while they waited, to make sure he didn't transfer funds out to his exchange before they're able to get their address added to the whitelist.

If you have you might want to get a gun. This is not correct. They are sending out emails to everyone:> What personal information was involved?>Contact and order details were involved. This is mostly the email address of our customers. Further to investigating the situation we have also been able to establish that, for a subset of customers were also exposed: first and last name, postal address, phone number and ordered products.
