21158159 No.21158159 [Reply] [Original]

BTC whale here. Can you explain why anyone would want to hoard Chainlink?

With BTC it's simple: Unconfiscatable, immutable digital gold with 10+ years of uptime and 0 hacks. Limited supply.

Now, what the fuck is the deal with Chainlink? why would anyone want to hoard it expecting an higher price? Does it have limited shares to 1.000.000.000 units (as im seeing on Coinmarketcap). It doesn't have an inflation rate like ETH? What stops the assorted Vitalik Butterin CEO of the altcoin to split the shares, infltae the total supply and whatnot?

Why would something that has to do with smart contracts (im not even sure what it does) benefit from a limited supply and a model similar to BTC where you are supposed to hoard it (hard money)?

There isn't a single crypto other than BTC that makes sense, at least not from the POV of buying and holding it expecting higher prices that can actually be sustained long term. The rest is a clusterfuck.

because smart contracts are the future of agreements digital or otherwise (check out RGB smart contracts being built on bitcoin) but currently blockchains can't interact with data to settle contractual agreements in a decentralized way, hence ethereum smart contracts being basically limited to moving tokens around. Link is the token of a decentralized oracle network that makes smart contracts able to interact with real world data, and will appreciate in value with use of the network as it's needed to collateralize contracts

Monero then. Not Btc.

It's a token, brainlet. A literal smart contract you can read. The supply is capped.
But the supply doesn't even matter. Without LINK blockchain is literally useless. Without LINK you can't even reliably pay for shit with your buttcoin, because when you buy your $100 buttplug the vendor can manipulate the price feed and you will pay at the rate $1/1 BTC. Not even mentioning the 2 hours confirmation times LINK makes instant through an escrow.
You want to reliably and trustlessly fuck a whore while paying with your buttcoin? LINK wraps your buttcoin into an ethereum smart contract and once the link-enabled sensor in whore's mouth detects cum, the smart contract automatically transfers the BTC and unwraps it at the other end.

You want an assassination smart contract? Police database LINK adapter and an anonymous link-enabled GPS tracker with a wallet attached. Once the target pops up in the database as a corpse and the tracker was at the place and the time of death, it receives the money.

Your whole crypto bullshit will run on LINK.

Still doesn't address why the TOKEN would go up in value.
The fundamentals of why BTC would up are clear. It can't be replicated. Chainlink is competing with a million other oracles. Also BTC can act as the best oracle possible (see Hivemind) and backed by an actual immutable blockchain which is what you would like when you are locking millions worth of contracts, not another PoS clusterfuck ponzi.

>> No.21159091

>>21158999
LN is
1. centralized as a concept
2. doesn't even exist. Version 0.1 beta is the best they came up with in 5 years
3. Will never be finished.

Link is already working with banks and S&P 500 corporations before it's even fully finished. Once it's finished later this year you will be forced to use it in your day to day life.
Also, LINK will surpass buttcoin in marketcap next fall, since the aim is to connect legacy banking and derivative exchanges to blockchain.
