What's the minimum amount of money you should have to start a business? $1000? $5000

>> No.22291

a vague question calls for an unhelpful answer:

depends on the business you are trying to open.

projected expenses for 6 months +10% seems reasonable to me.

$0

Draw up a business plan, if it's good enough then you'll be able to find someone who'll loan you the startup funds. If it's not good enough then maybe you shouldn't be trying to start it.

what kind of business? You can officially start one for around $50.

>$1000? $5000
Oh god that's so cute.

1000 isn't even enough to trade shares, not in any sane, logical fashion. 5000 is literally the threshold of anything you can do with any sort of capital, the whole "start from 1 dollar and make millions eeeyup" thing hasn't been true for over a century, unless you're buying and selling drugs.

For a business? A real business and not a hobby that evolves? Try in the millions.

Shutup you faggot.

I started my business with less than $1000

No, you had a hobby that just so happened to be profitable later.

So what you are saying is that he took 1000$ and turned it into a business.

A business has a marketable product or a service. Mowing lawns, writing music or writing apps might be products and services and it might even be profitable, but it's hardly a business.

No a business is,

the practice of making one's living by engaging in commerce.

a person's regular occupation, profession, or trade.

By definition. Regardless of how high your standards of what does and doesn't qualify as a business are, someone spending money to start a company that makes them money is them starting a business.

>> No.22560

Okay, well enjoy either being "self-employed" or being lucky enough to have a profitable hobby, but you're still leagues apart from successful startups and microbusinesses. You're not winning any real contracts with that mentality, anon.

>> No.22649

>>22560
I'm not even the guy you were arguing with earlier who started a business, I am just arguing because you have a really high sense of what is and isn't a business. Just because someone isn't a professional corporate cock gargler by profession who can min max all his dollars and business contracts doesn't mean they cant have a successful and profitable business.

First time on /biz/. Not sure what I expected from this board, but I'm totally not surprised by the multitude of retarded crap that's being said on here.

What i'm getting from this thread is that I should get a shitkicker job until I have about $10k.

Giving me 5k to fuck around with and 5k as "insurance"/lifestyle money.

If you don't have around 10k you just have to get a part time or a 9-5 to make 100% of your money. After that point you can look into making your money work for you?

Is that it?

>> No.26521

Depends on what the business is

If you're looking to daytrade, I'd imagine that you'd need around $5K + equipment +$2K to fall back on so you can survive the first couple of months

I don't know much about anything else

I started an African American removal company from a hobby and about $300. Basically the filing fees, stamps, and web hosting. It makes over 60k a month now after six months.

Just buy my eBook to see how. Offer Valid for white neighborhoods only.

I started an IT service company with about $150. just had to file. It helps that I am a one man band for all things related to business improvement, automation, servers, etc... etc...

I am one person making typically 30k a month. Consider myself self employed. Looking to grow into a business, but the concept of losing margins to hire people and rent space scares me. Space will be probably 4k a month, and a person will be probably 5k a month, so that will bring me down to 20k profits. I literally have no other expenses.

Should I play with the stock market or keep on this path? Which is safer and which will male me rich?

>> No.26874

so hiring another person and renting a space won't increase your productivity at all? both of those things will add value to what you do, chances are you'll be making more as a result.

$20.
$15 for domain, $5 for VPS.

That doesn't sound tax efficient. Where are you based?
