Kroger (KR) to be acquired by Amazon at $47.50 per share. Announcement after close today. Amazon already owns Whole Foods which is their higher end brand. Now they’ll own the largest grocer in the rest of the market.
>>22570643even if this were true, looks like /biz/ doesn’t care
too poor to play it
Meanwhile fed buying US land worth trillions. FED buying LAND. What a time to be alive.
what is your source?
>>22570643are you selling the 9/18 $34 calls lol?
I wish I could buy calls, but I could never get away with that.
So amazon is just going to take over the fucking world huh
>>22570876I’m not an idiot.
>>22570643Doubtful
Even at $47.50, it’s only about 16 times forward earnings. Amazon is getting a fucking bargain and a half.
>>22570957op I’m going to take your word for it. plz don’t be lying fren.
That would be fucking hilarious but Bezos is a lunatic that he may do ti

>>22571065yeah I'm actually there now kek
I’ve been invested in KR for about a year ~6 months. Can you give me some hope? My god I put 20k on this instead of WKHS which was like 4 dollars at the time. Figured a grocery store was a good bet, man do I have regrets.
I think word has leaked, not counting this thread. The stock is up significantly today on no news.
>>22571086buy to open 100 call strike $33?this is how i lose money
short safeway, without heavy investment they are now a small fish compared to their competition. how long until an online only grocery chain?
>>22571326went with Oct 2 2020 35.00 Call cost me 12 bucks per contract, not too bad.
Timing on this would seem very weird, with the pandemic Kroger is probably at the best position its ever been, why would Amazon buy them now?As opposed to waiting it out, and buying at a lower price.
I work for kroger and I don’t see any news about this on my work portal
>>22571207>made assumptionsSee where you went wrong?
Only way this makes sense is if Amazon is really threatened by Walmart/Walmart + and they want to compete with the lower income market.
>>22571446You think decisions are made only on the basis of perceived current value of the target company? Lol.
>>22570929Why not?
>>22571446Amazon has been doing DD for over a year on this deal. They consider Kroger to have the best grocery operation in the world and they’ve been stunned that the stock hasn’t responded to Kroger’s vastly improving business position. They consider it possibly the most undervalued company in the world right now. This deal might have taken another year but Amazon has decided to lock it down before the stock corrects up and they might have to pay $60 per share.
>>22570643>CIA shell company owns 60% of internet commerce and will also now own the grocery supply chainsIt's only a matter of time before they buy the entire state of Wyoming and convert it into a giant bugman ranch to farm bugs and soi and then we're all fucked. Also Jeff Bezos is clearly a supervillain and he doesn't even hide it.
>>22570643Snd I was just looking at KR.
>>22571443i work for a broker dealer so I have to get approvali wonder if I can sneak this past the ceo without attracting interest (of a bad kind)
>>22571573That makes a lot of sense. Kroger's problem like walmart is the fact that their customer service sucks, the stores are pretty gross, and I would rather pay more than to shop with their target clientele. I wonder if Amazon would actually try to fix this or just keep it the same and expand their prime grocery foothold. Probably just the later.
YOLO in with 33 oct 2 calls
>>22571572Let’s just say that there’s a reason I know what I know. And any positions I take with regard to KR are monitored by the SEC.
>>22571597Yeah but you might as well make money off of it

>>22571768the only reason I clicked on this thread is because I use Kroger too. Clicklist is good, a wagie does my shopping for me and puts in my truck for free. Krogers are pretty nice near me as well.
>>22571768I live in a big city so there is a Kroger every few miles or so, they are pretty hit or miss imo. I drive an extra few miles to go to the better Kroger when I'm looking for something whole foods doesn't have.

I'm buying. I've acted on rumors here myself. It seems sensible that Amazon would buy Kroger and it would be the final nail in the coffin with Walmart. They have the first mover advantage here too of they take on retail. It also makes sense given the new 100+ distribution centers. Also muh climate fund bullshit seems like a smoke and mirror trick. Talk about this nonsense, get a tax write off and while everyone is distracted, violá the biggest grocery deal in history is wrapped and in the bag.
>>22572718Nice call on the distribution centers. They've added 3 maybe 4 in my county in the past year. Didn't understand it but this would make sense.
>>22570643Dude the /biz board is only for talking about imaginary crypto shit coins! How dare you talk about stocks on here. You didn't use key words like crabbing, price target, or logarithm.

while we're discussing Amazon rumors I notice my CBL calls are up 100% today, and I bought them on the chance Amazon was turning malls into distribution centers. Just a heads up.
That would be a huge acquisition for a company that despite record sales for grocers hasn't posted huge earnings to match.

This is a meme. No way kroger gets bought out when amazon already owns whole foods. This buyout would get blocked
>>22578662So sell tomorrow at a loss of a few hundred then
It looks like AH trading has been halted on KR..............
>>22578715In an hour you'll be trying to decide between selling your options for a massive gain, or exercising the options

>>22578969Oh shit it's going to 3$

>>22579580>Published:9:50 AM CDT September 15, 2020Updated:5:08 PM CDT September 15, 2020Almost everything you've said in this thread is retarded
>>22579630nope
So it was all fake and gay? What happens to the $17 I spent on calls? How do I get refund??
>>22577221priorities man lol
>>22579674They did just declare quarterly dividend at 4:30, so yeah it was all a larp. Who would have ever guessed.
>>22579701Use robinhood where trading options is free.
>>22579747Fuck yeah we're mooning 1% tomorrow
>this thread
>>22579747Holy shit I'm gonna be rich, KR going to skyrocket up 0.45% tomorrow!
The only real news here is OP is a faggot.
>>22579747I should have done like 5 minutes of research since there are plenty of news articles of recency which point to the "this would never fucking happen" side of things, but I was busy with work. Fuck it, only yolo'd because you almost never see posts like this on /biz/ and I'd knife myself if it were true and I missed out. I lost a decent chunk of cash and OP is a massive, massive piece of shit... but that's about all there is to see here.
big nothing burger
>>22579832Same but I'm not out that much and it was nice to feel something besides crippling depression for like two hours.
>>22579747ah. Makes sense. Also explains the trading halt that so many were denying.Actually this makes KR a solid hold. Maybe an okay long term Call too.
can I stop edging yet?
>>22579869https://www.nyse.com/trade-halt-currentWasn't halted either
>>22579869I'm holding. Kroger gang for life.
>>22579869>>22579813Maybe OP was playing a game of in-company telephone and somehow "directors are announcing a divided increase today" turned into "ZOMG AMAZON BUYING US OUT"
>>22579747>>22579869Dividend increased by almost 30% This is a solid hold until more news develops
>>22580008Maybe OP is just a cunt. Guess we'll never know.
>>22580012eh maybe I can unload calls at break even or even a slight profit tomorrow.
>>22579981Yes, nothing is happening.
>>22579996This fuckin guy.
>>22580040Dividend announcements very very rarely affect price action. It's still just a .5% dividend, not enough to make people abandon other stocks in favor of KR.
>>22580012Might be good for a 30% increase in stock price. Or at least 15%. Our calls may print yet boys!
I'm still going to make more money on this so thanks Kroger bro. The high Q2 earnings with this dividend is going to make this go up 5% at least tomorrow. That's $140 for me which is fine in my books. I'm going to sell and invest in UVV (big divvies).
>>225800902.2% annually.
Grocery stores are not growth stocks so don't expect any big increases. The only one I'd consider for growth is GO.
its a decent stock to hold regardless
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI AM ABSOLUTELY UNIRONICALLY LITERALLY FINANCIALLY RUINEDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>22580130The stock is still trading AH and it is up 1 entire penny. You guys who think this will move the stock are delusional.
>>22580148Yes which is still meh. It's fine.
>>22580130>>22580172Sorry now it's down 8 cents actually
Didn't Buffet go hard on Kroger in his last quarterly report? Isn't this blatant insider trading?
>>22580200>>22580172Gtfo Publixfag
>>22579813That's nothing new though...
>>22580090Stonks usually go down on ex-dividend
>>22580424
>>22580424Do you even know the words you're typing? This is a dividend announcement, not a dividend pay date. Yes, stocks usually go up before ex-dividend and down directly after bc of dividend chasers. But the ex-dividend is in December. I swear this board has too many retards.
The least OP could do is let us know everything is going to be alright
>>22580653I know, I need a hug
>>22570643Fuck you nigger
Is there any way the company would announce an increased dividend at 4:30 and still announce a buyout at 9pm?
>>22580853No that's a retarded thing to even ask. Also look at the news. Earlier this year the CEO went on record about the shit they're doing and have been doing to stay ahead of Amazon. Kroger got bought out just two years ago by EG Group and has proven to be a GOOD investment. I doubt they'd sell to Amazon right now.
eh, up .17 aftermarket I might actually make a few bucks off this after all.
Is there any way to do a chargeback on a margin purchase?
